Benzopression

By Genie Polower

Never felt such bad depression

I think I need a crying session

I often force myself to walk

And it can be a chore to talk

Can't get out of my own way

Whene'er I try to sing or play

Self-absorption is my game

Which seems to be a crying shame

And, now you're all my only friends

Coz you don't care I've got the bends

Or, when my poor brain cannot commute

Or, when sometimes when eating fruit

I barf it up all back again

And try to deal with my rib pain (from barfing, that is)

Benzo withdrawal can make you lazy

Or, you think you're going crazy

I've beaten this once, I'll heal again

In spite of all this awful pain

And, you can do it, too, my friends

Even if you, too, get the bends

Just keep on taperin' and you will see

That life will improve for you and me.

Yours in withdrawal,

Genie

P.S. If there is somewhere else on the Forum where I should be posting these poems, please let me know. I figured "off topic" was a better place than "inspirational" coz some of my poems aren't exactly inspirational!!!!

see getting off drugs re-awakens who we are - many of us if not all are really sensitive and creative - so getting back to self will be painful - it will also be creative - heck the world really needs us - we were fools to allow others to tell us we were not accessible and and drug us into dullness in order to blend.

anyone here think we can change the world now? or am i being delusional - i hear that could happen during withdrawals
