Thanks, I heard the Pearl Jam version 1st in my early 20's, but didn't know it was a cover. Then I heard Victoria's version in my early 30's and liked it better

Yes, I admit I had to consult Urban Dictionary.   Something like "same old story, no longer carries weight or has any impact".  Sooo, anyway, this is what sprung to my mind ...

 

Military family, Air Force, three generations.  The personal price they paid, the decision to finally quit, the futility and destruction of war, and the loss of hope for peace.
