"Medicine" - Daughter

https://youtu.be/aM2lObw1CbY

Pick it up

Pick it all up

And start again

You've got a second chance

You could go home

Escape it all

It's just irrelevant

It's just medicine

It's just medicine

You could still be

What you want to

What you said you were

When I met you

You've got a warm heart

You've got a beautiful brain

But it's disintegrating

From all the medicine

From all the medicine

From all the medicine

Medicine

You could still be

What you want to be

What you said you were

When you met me

You could still be

What you want to

What you said you were

When I met you

When you met me

When I met you

"A Message" - Coldplay

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3054/2570178372_5736b9fd7f.jpg

My song is love

Love to the loveless shown

And it goes on

You don't have to be alone

Your heavy heart

Is made of stone

And it's so hard to see clearly

You don't have to be on your own

You don't have to be on your own

And I'm not gonna take it back

And I'm not gonna say I don't mean that

You're the target that I'm aiming at

And I'll get that message home

My song is love

My song is love unknown

But I'm on fire for you

Clearly

You don't have to be alone

You don't have to be on your own

And I'm not gonna take it back

And I'm not gonna say I don't mean that

You're the target that I'm aiming at

But I'm nothing on my own

Got to get that message home

And I'm not gonna stand and wait

Not gonna leave it until it's much too late

On a platform I'm gonna stand and say

That I'm nothing on my own

And I love you

Please come home

My song is love

Is love unknown

And I've got to get that message home

Victoria Williams - Crazy Mary, later covered by Pearl Jam

LF, I can tell you're also very into music therapy.   Great song, enjoyed both, but I think my vote goes to Victoria Williams.

Thanks for all your contributions, really hoping things start letting up for you soon.

:smitten:

Thanks, I heard the Pearl Jam version 1st in my early 20's, but didn't know it was a cover. Then I heard Victoria's version in my early 30's and liked it better :)

Eliott Smith - Miss Misery

I'll fake it through the day

With some help from johnny walker red

Send the poison rain down the drain

To put bad thoughts in my head

Two tickets torn in half

And a lot of nothing to do

Do you miss me, miss misery

Like you say you do?

A man in the park

Read the lines in my hand

Told me I'm strong

Hardly ever wrong i said man you mean

You had plans for both of us

That involved a trip out of town

To a place I've seen in a magazine

That you left lying around

I don't have you with me but

I keep a good attitude

Do you miss me, miss misery

Like you say you do?

I know you'd rather see me gone

Than to see me the way that i am

But i am in the life anyway

Next door the TV's flashing

Blue frames on the wall

It's a comedy of errors, you see

It's about taking a fall

To vanish into oblivion

Is easy to do

And i try to be but you know me

I come back when you want me to

Do you miss me miss misery

Like you say you do?

"One Day Too Late" - Skillet

Tick tock hear the clock countdown

Wish the minute hand could be rewound

So much to do and so much I need to say

Will tomorrow be too late

Feel the moment slip into the past

Like sand through an hourglass

In the madness I guess I just forget

To do all the things I said

[Chorus]

Time passes by

Never thought I'd wind up

One step behind

Now I've made my mind up

Today I'm gonna try a little harder

Gonna make every minute last longer

Gonna learn to forgive and forget

Cause we don't have long

Gonna make the most of it

Today I'm gonna love my enemies

Reach out to somebody who needs me

Make a change, make the world a better place

Cause tomorrow could be one day too late

One day too late

One day too late

Tick tock hear my life pass by

I can't erase and I can't rewind

Of all the things I regret the most I do

Wish I'd spent more time with you

Here's my chance for a new beginning

I saved the best for a better ending

In the end I'll make it up to you, you'll see

You'll get the very best of me

Your time is running out

You're never gonna get it back

Make the most of every moment

Stop saving the best for last

[Chorus]

Today I'm gonna love my enemies

Reach out to somebody who needs me

Make a change, make the world a better place

Cause tomorrow could be one day too late

One day too late

One day too late

https://youtu.be/-9d6AxHDPKY

Oh you're tired

But you need to fight on

Oh I'm tired

And I need to lie down

So please don't cry

Please open your eyes

Oh you're tired

But you need to fight on

Oh I'm tired

And I need to lie down

So please don't cry

Please open your eyes

"Be Still" - The Killers

Be still

And go on to bed

Nobody knows what lies ahead

And life is short

To say the least

We're in the belly of the beast

Be still

Wild and young

Long may your innocence reign

Like shells on the shore

And may your limits be unknown

And may your efforts be your own

If you ever feel you can't take it anymore

Don't break character

You've got a lot of heart

Is this real or just a dream

Rise up like the sun

Labor till the work is done

Be still

One day you'll leave

Fearlessness on your sleeve

And when you come back

Tell me what did you see

Was there something out there for me

Be still

Close your eyes

Soon enough you'll be on your own

Steady and straight

And if they drag you through the mud

It doesn't change what's in your blood

When they knock you down

Don't break character

You've got a lot of heart

Is this real or just a dream

Be still

Be still

Be still

Be still

Over rock and chain

Over sunset plane

Over trap and snare

When you're in too deep

In your wildest dream

In your made up scheme

When they knock you down

When they knock you down

Don't break character

You've got sooooo much heart

Is this real or just a dream

Oh rise up like the sun

And labor till the work is done

Rise up like the sun

Labor till the work is

Rise up like the sun

And labor till the work is done

Low - Dinosaur Act

You were their daughter

And your father

Flew airplanes

You and your sister

Could tell by the back of their hands

It was a dinosaur act

Dinosaur act

Dinosaur act

Dinosaur act

And after expenses

And pulling up fences

No more airplanes

And putting your foot down

A nail shot up like a bright red snowflake

Just like a dinosaur act

Dinosaur act

Dinosaur act

Dinosaur act

Dinosaur

Ooo...

And all through the dust

You feel that you must hear the strings of a dove

But it's a dinosaur act

Dinosaur act

Dinosaur act

Dinosaur act

Dinosaur

"Patience" - Guns N' Roses

Shed a tear cause I'm missing you

I'm still alright to smile

Girl, I think about you every day now

Was a time when I wasn't sure

But you set my mind at ease

There is no doubt you're in my heart now

Said woman take it slow

It'll work itself out fine

All we need is just a little patience

Said sugar make it slow

And we'll come together fine

All we need is just a little patience

I sit here on the stairs

Cause I'd rather be alone

If I can't have you right now, I'll wait dear

Sometimes I get so tense

But I can't speed up the time

But you know love

There's one more thing to consider

Said woman take it slow, things will be just fine

You and I'll just use a little patience

Said sugar take the time

Cause the lights are shining bright

You and I've got what it takes to make it

We won't fake it, I'll never break it

Cause I can't take it

Little patience, need a little patience, yeah

Just a little patience, yeah

Some more patience, yeah

I've been walking the streets at night

Just trying to get it right

It's hard to see when so many around

You know I don't like being stuck in the crowd

And the streets don't change but maybe the names

I ain't got time for the game cause I need you

Yeah, yeah oh I need you

Oh I need you, oh I need you

Oh, this time

"Dust in the Wind" - Kansas

I close my eyes

Only for a moment

And the moment's gone

All my dreams

Pass before my eyes

A curiosity

Dust in the wind

All they are is dust in the wind

Same old song

Just a drop of water

In an endless sea

All we do

Crumbles to the ground

Though we refuse to see

Dust in the wind

All we are is dust in the wind

Now don't hang on

Nothing lasts forever

But the earth and sky

It slips away

And all your money

Won't another minute buy

Dust in the wind

All we are is dust in the wind

Dust in the wind

Everything is dust in the wind

The wind

Love Guns and Roses....and Kansas...awesome totally feel like I need to be reminded to have patience. And I once felt like dust in the wind, thankfully that feeling has passed. I dont ever wanna go back to that depression....

Very glad to hear you're over that dust in the wind feeling, Hope. Patience, yep, the tortoise did win after all.

"I Know There's An Answer" - The Beach Boys

I know so many people

Who think they can do it alone

They isolate their heads

And stay in their safety zones

Now what can you tell them

And what can you say

That won't make them defensive

I know there's an answer

I know now

But I have to find it by myself

They come on like they're peaceful

But inside they're so uptight

They trip through their day

And waste all their thoughts at night

Now how can I come on

And tell them

The way that they live could be better

I know there's an answer

I know now

But I have to find it by myself

Now how can I come on

And tell them

The way that they live could be better

I know there's an answer

I know now

But I have to find it by myself

"Numb"

Marina And The Diamonds

One track mind like a gold fish

Stuck inside my petri dish

I can't breathe and I can't smile

This better be worth my while

I feel numb most of the time

The lower I get the higher I'll climb

And I will wonder why

I got dark only to shine

Looking for the golden light

Oh, it's a reasonable sacrifice

Burn, burn, burn bright

Forgo family, forgo friends

It's how it started, how it ends

I can't open up and cry

Cause I've been silent all my life

I feel numb most of the time

The lower I get the higher I'll climb

And I will wonder why

I got dark only to shine

Looking for the golden light

Oh it's a reasonable sacrifice

Burn, burn, burn bright

Burn, burn, burn bright

Oh, I get dark oh and I'm in hell

I need a friend, oh but I can't yell

Yeah, I'm no good, no good to anyone

Cause all I care about is being number one

Shine

Looking for the golden light

Oh it's a reasonable sacrifice

Shine

Looking for the golden light

Oh it's a reasonable sacrifice

Sacrifice

I feel numb most of the time

The lower I get the higher I'll climb

And I will wonder why

I got dark only to shine

And I light up the sky

Stars that burn the brightest

Fall so fast and pass you by

Cough like empty lighters

I feel numb most of the time

The lower I get the higher I'll climb

And I will wonder why

I get dark only to shine

And I light up the sky

Stars that burn the brightest

Fall so fast and pass you by

Spark like empty lighters

"Scared" - John Lennon

https://youtu.be/NDI_PSJebUY

I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared

I'm scared, so scared

I'm scared, I'm scared, I'm scared

As the years roll away

And the price that I paid

And the straws slips away

You don't have to suffer

It is what it is

No bell book or candle

Can get you out of this

Oh no

I'm scarred, I'm scarred, I'm scarred

I'm scarred

I'm scarred, I'm scarred, I'm scarred

Every day of my life

I just manage to survive

I just wanna stay alive

You don't have to worry

In heaven or hell

Just dance to the music

You do it so well, well, well

Hatred and jealousy

Gonna be the death of me

I guess I knew it right from the start

Sing out about love and peace

Don't wanna see the red raw meat

The green eyed goddamn straight from your heart

I'm tired, I'm tired, I'm tired

Of being so alone

No place to call my own

Like a rolling stone

"Lift Me Up" - Kate Voegele

This road is anything but simple

Twisted like a riddle

I've seen high and I've seen low

So loud the voices of all my doubts

Are telling me to give up

To pack up and leave town

But even so I had to believe

Impossible means nothing to me

[Chorus]

So can you lift me up

And turn the ashes into flames

Cause I have overcome

More than words will ever say

And I've been given hope

That there's a light on up the hall

And that a day will come when the fight is won

And I think that day has just begun

Somewhere everybody starts there

You're counting on a small prayer

Lost in a nightmare

But I'm here and suddenly it's so clear

The struggle through the long years

It taught me to outrun my fears

And everything that's worth having

Comes with trials worth withstanding

[Chorus]

Oh lift me up, oh lift me up, oh lift me up

Lift me up, lift me up, oh lift me up

Down and out is overrated

I need to be elevated

Looking up is not enough

I would rather rise above

So can you lift me up

And turn the ashes into flames

Cause I have overcome

More than words will ever say

And I've been given hope

That there's a light on up the hall

And that a day will come when the fight is won

And I think that day has just begun

Oh just begun

Lift me up

Oh lift me up, lift me up, lift me up

Low - Dinosaur Act

Hmmmm, now that's an interesting one, LF.  What's your interpretation of the lyrics?  ???

The lyrics always had special meaning, but could never really decipher. The dinosaur act being a bad mistake or an attempt in futility, or just the meaning of life and its ups and downs. What do you think?

A Long Deceneber

Counting Crows

"A Long December"

A long December and there's reason to believe

Maybe this year will be better than the last

I can't remember the last thing that you said as you were leavin'

Now the days go by so fast

And it's one more day up in the canyons

And it's one more night in Hollywood

If you think that I could be forgiven...I wish you would

The smell of hospitals in winter

And the feeling that it's all a lot of oysters, but no pearls

All at once you look across a crowded room

To see the way that light attaches to a girl

And it's one more day up in the canyons

And it's one more night in Hollywood

If you think you might come to California...I think you should

Drove up to Hillside Manor sometime after two a.m.

And talked a little while about the year

I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower,

Makes you talk a little lower about the things you could not show her

And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe

Maybe this year will be better than the last

I can't remember all the times I tried to tell my myself

To hold on to these moments as they pass

And it's one more day up in the canyon

And it's one more night in Hollywood

It's been so long since I've seen the ocean...I guess I should

SO glad you like it  LF :)    I'm on a Verve kick right now...too many choices but tonight I choose this one....more to follow I'm sure  ;)

Velvet Morning

The Verve

Yes

It's been long

And yes

I still feel strong

Into the half light

Another velvet morning for me, yeah

Time

Stands still

As you take

Your last pill

Into the half light

Another velvet morning for me

And now I'm trying to tell you

About my life

And my tongue is twisted

And more dead than alive

And my feelings

They've always been betrayed

And I was born a little damaged man

And look what they paid

I said, don't you find

That it's lonely to

Your alone

And life is a game

You've tried

And life is a game

You're tired

Yes

I'm coming down

Your beauty is

A colour surround

Into the half light

Another velvet morning for me

And now I'm trying to tell you

About my life

And my tongue is twisted

And more dead than alive

And my feelings

My feelings, they've been betrayed

And I was born a little damaged man

And look what they made

He said, don't you find

That it's lonely

You walked in alone

And life is a game

You've tried

And life is a game

You're tired

And life is a game

You've tried

❤️

Since we're into UK music, why not:

New Order - Regret

Maybe I've forgotten

The name and the address

Of everyone I've ever known,

It's nothing I regret

Save it for another day, cause

The school is and the

Kids have run away

I would like a place I can call my own

Have a conversation on my telephone

Wake up everyday, that would be a start

I would not complain by my wounded heart

I was upset, you see

Almost all the time

You used to be a stranger

Now you are mine

I wouldn't even trust you

I've not that much to give

We're dealing in the limits, and

We don't know who with

You may think that I'm out of hand

That I'm naive, I'll understand

On this occasion, it's not true

Look at me, I'm not you

I would like a place I can call my own

Have a conversation on the telephone

Wake up everyday, that would be a start

I would not complain with my wounded heart

I was a short fuse

Burning all the time

You were a complete stranger

Now you are mine

I would like a place I can call my own

Have a conversation on the telephone

Wake up everyday, that would be a start

I would not complain with my wounded heart

Just wait 'till tomorrow

I guess that's what they all say

Just before they fall apart...

Yes, I admit I had to consult Urban Dictionary. >:D  Something like "same old story, no longer carries weight or has any impact".  Sooo, anyway, this is what sprung to my mind ...

Military family, Air Force, three generations.  The personal price they paid, the decision to finally quit, the futility and destruction of war, and the loss of hope for peace.

I prefer that ending to thinking someone stepped on a landmine

And putting your foot down

a nail shot up like a bright red snowflake  :o

My UK offering.

Dedicated to Big Pharma and ignorant Doctors.  >:(

"Battlefield" - Emerson, Lake & Palmer

Clear the battlefield and let me see

All the profit from our victory

You talk of freedom

Starving children fall

Are you deaf when you hear the season's call

Were you there

To watch the earth be scorched

Did you stand beside the spectral torch

Know the leaves of sorrow turned their face

Scattered on the ashes of disgrace

Every blade is sharp the arrows fly

We're the victims of your armies' lie

Where the blades of grass and arrows rain

Then there'll be very little sorrow

Very little pain

Confusion will be my epitaph

As I cross a cracked and broken path

If we make it

We can all sit back and laugh

Good explanation

Shame is really the song that captured me way back. How no one wants to talk about shame and vulnerability. By the way, I love Brene Brown and her work.

Low - Shame

A long time you waited

You thought it had abated

Shame of it all

The harm that it causes

Pours down like a faucet

Shame of it all
