Knackered Mixes it Up with Benzos
Hey there, Knackered here. I learned early in my college life that you should never consume the party punch containing a mixture of different alcoholic beverages and god knows what else. If you’ve experienced trying to budget while you own credit cards, you know what a mess that can make of your finances. Unless they’re together from early days, cats and dogs don’t get along well. And unless you’ve got a very strong constitution, you don’t mix having diarrhea with being stuck on an elevator. Much better to take the stairs up to the restroom.
I would also imagine that all of us around here have experienced the good, and more than likely, the bad of mixing other drugs while on a Benzo taper.
I’ve tried several times now, and the results have always left me in enemy territory for at least a week or so.
I’d also like to think that by the time someone my age has gone through this that they’d be smart enough not to repeat it. Nevertheless, I agreed with my provider at my most recent appointment that I should add some Pregabalin (Lyrica) to take ‘the edge’ off my Benzo taper symptoms. We (I) tried it at a very low dose, but found myself in tolerance after just a few days. Somewhere along the line, I agreed to try again by doubling the dose as it was partially effective the first time around. That was mid day yesterday.
Last night, I found myself down the rabbit hole with ‘Alice when she’s ten feet tall…” (Jefferson Airplane-White Rabbit -June, 1967). During the night, I found myself in broad daylight out in front of the house, mowing and edging the lawn. Knowing that I had to get back to bed because we had arranged to have some home repair folks coming early, I left the back door unlocked. Sometime later I heard the repair crew inside the house, talking and checking out something in the basement. I realized that I had to get up again, but could not lift the bedding. I called to my son, age circa 5 or 6 (but now actually 46) and he came to assist me.
Sometime later, I heard the dog barking from the distance. I asked my wife to please get up and do the deed, as I felt paralyzed. Upon waking, I discovered that the dog had been fed, let out and brought back in (by me??).
I should, at this point, emphasize that I don’t do recreational drugs, but remember: “And if you go chasing rabbits; And you know you’re going to fall; Tell ‘em a hookah smoking caterpillar; Has given you the call; He called Alice; When she was just small.”
I didn’t leave the bed until lunch time today. Checking into the internet med interaction website, apparently there is only a ‘moderate’ chance of harmful interaction with Lyrica and Benzos. But remember: “One pill makes you larger and one pill makes you small. And you might find Alice “When she’s ten feet tall”.
