Need help with Valium taper

[rh...]

Recommended Posts

I am at 23.5mg. Valium and I need someone to help me with my taper. I was going way too fast and it caught up with me (see signature). I finally stabilized after a 23 day hold at 24mg. My last cut was 10 days ago of .5mg. I have 2, 5 and 10mg. pills. My wonderful husband cuts the 2mg. in quarters so I can cut the .5 every 10 days.

I know some have cut .25mg. and I was wondering how in the world you can do that because when the 2mg. is cut into 4 pieces they are small, so how do you get an accurate cut of .25?

I have been wondering about daily reductions of the Valium, which would be pills and titrating. I realize I am up there in Valium dose, but I seem to be very sensitive to the cuts. Right now it's about a 2% cut every 10 days. I have underlying health issues that mimic the w/d's. I have been dosing 3 times a day, keeping the largest at bedtime because I have bouts of insomnia with the health issue. I hardly slept at all last night, some nights I sleep well but it's broken. My bedtime dose has been 14mg. for a while.

I realize I'm throwing a lot out there, but I am hoping for some suggestions. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Hi Kate,

I used this scheduled that Vertigo had on his blog to cut .25 mgs every 10 days. It will be easy enough to figure out how to adjust this to the dose you are at now. 23.25mg: (two 10mg. + 1/4 5mg + one 2mg) Just continue following the schedule below. Let me know if you have any questions.

10mg: Two 5mg tablets (5mg + 5mg=10mg)

9.75mg: One 5mg tablet, ¼ of a 5mg tablet, one 2mg tablet, ½ of a 2mg tablet, ¼ of a 2mg tablet (5mg + 1.25mg + 2mg + 1mg + .5mg = 9.75mg)

9.5mg: One 5mg tablet, ½ of a 5mg tablet, one 2mg tablet (5mg + 2.5mg + 2mg = 9.5mg)

9.25mg: One 5mg tablet, ¼ of a 5mg tablet, one 2mg tablet, ½ of a 2mg tablet (5mg + 1.25mg + 2mg + 1mg =9.25mg)

9mg: One 5mg tablet, two 2mg tablets (5mg + 2mg + 2mg = 9mg)

8.75mg: One 5mg tablet, ¼ of a 5mg tablet, one 2mg tablet, ¼ of a 2mg tablet (5mg + 1.25mg + 2mg + .5mg =8.75mg)

8.5mg: One 5mg tablet, ½ of a 5mg tablet, ½ of a 2mg tablet (5mg + 2.5mg + .5mg = 8.5mg)

8.25mg: One 5mg tablet, ¼ of a 5mg tablet, one 2mg tablet (5mg + 1.25mg + 2mg = 8.25mg)

8mg: One 5mg tablet, one 2mg tablet, ½ of a 2mg tablet (5mg + 2mg + 1mg = 8mg)

7.75mg: One 5mg tablet, ¼ of a 5mg tablet, ½ of a 2mg tablet, ¼ of a 2mg tablet (5mg + 1.25mg + 1mg + .5mg = 7.75mg)

7.5mg: One 5mg tablet, ½ of a 5mg tablet (5mg + 2.5mg = 7.5mg)

7.25mg: One 5mg tablet, ¼ of a 5mg tablet, ½ of a 2mg tablet (5mg + 1.25mg+ 1mg = 7.25mg)

7mg: One 5mg tablet, one 2mg tablet (5mg + 2mg = 7mg)

6.75mg: One 5mg tablet, ¼ of a 5mg tablet, ¼ of a 2mg tablet (5mg + 1.25mg + .5mg = 6.75mg)

6.5mg: One 5mg tablet, ½ of a 2mg tablet, ¼ of a 2mg tablet (5mg + 1mg + .5mg = 6.5mg)

6.25mg: One 5mg tablet, ¼ of a 5mg tablet (5mg + 1.25mg = 6.25mg)

6mg: One 5mg tablet, ½ of a 2mg tablet (5mg + 1mg = 6mg)

5.75mg: ½ of a 5mg tablet, ¼ of a 5mg tablet, one 2mg tablet (2.5mg +1.25mg + 2mg = 5.75mg)

5.5mg: One 5mg tablet, ¼ of a 2mg tablet (5mg + .5mg = 5.5mg)

5.25mg: ¼ of a 5mg tablet, two 2mg tablets (1.25mg + 2mg + 2mg = 5.25mg)

5mg: One 5mg tablet

4.75mg: ½ of a 5mg tablet, ¼ of a 5mg tablet, ½ of a 2mg tablet (2.5mg + 1.25mg + 1mg = 4.75mg)

3mg: One 2mg tablet, ½ of a 2mg tablet (2mg + 1mg = 3mg)

2.75mg: ¼ of a 5mg tablet, ½ of a 2mg tablet, ¼ of a 2mg tablet (1.25mg + 1mg + .5mg = 2.75mg)

Hi Leslie,

Thank you from the bottom of my heart :smitten:. I could really use prayer right now regarding this. It's so difficult to know what to do since I have the CFS on top of w/d. It's going to be such a long taper Leslie, and I know I can't nor do I want to rush it because I know what that does. I can't imagine feeling this dead for perhaps a 2 year taper. As you can tell, I am very overwhelmed right now :'( I feel so bad for Bill. I wish I could call and talk to you. Did you feel dead like this? It's beyond anything I have ever been through.

Please know that I appreciate you so very much.

Love,

Kate

Get some of this liquid solution and add it to your pills.

So let's say you take 14mg of v and you want to reduce to 13.75mg of v.

You would take a 10mg pill, a 2mg pill, half of a 2 mg pill, and then .75ml of this solution.

10+2+1(pills) + .75ml (liquid) = 13.75

Bada bing! Makes reduction much simpler and exact

Snookie!

The solution is avaiable at CVS, Walmart, and Walgreens

Print this med page out and take it to your doctor...he'll better understand if he can see that it really does exist for himself
