Tinnitus and Brain Damage

[...]

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Tinnitus. I have had all the tests: hearing, physical exam by specialist, brain MRI, carotid artery ultrasound-all negative. So, if I have tinnitus permanently, does that mean I have permanent brain damage from benzos? If it looks like a duck...Comments?

Hi Bear,

This is a link to the Ashton Manual supplement from April 11 and talks about there likely being no structural brain damage from benzos, more functional but temporary.   However, more studies need to be done I gather from rereading this update.  "Unsolved" it says, but I like to look on the bright side.  People heal. Tinnitus is a fairly common w/d side-effect as well. Try putting "tinnitus" in the search bar on this forum and you should come up with lots of BB's discussing this symptom.  Luckily this is not one of my symptoms, thought I've got plenty.  It should pass in time.

All the best, Benzohno
