stopping taper (for now)

I've been tapering since May with the help of my psychiatrist and addiction specialist doctors. But I think I've hit a wall. I am about to have a baby and the crazy withdrawal symptoms are unbearable. I need to be able to function right now. I also think the addiction specialist I saw really screwed things up by trying to force me to taper way too quickly. I honestly had to fight and pester her for weeks in order to get them to slow down the taper.

 

They recently increased my dose back to 1.5 mg a day, and I am still having some trouble with it. But it's a lot better than 1.25. For some reason, I could not adjust to that dose. Anyway, my point is I am amazed at how you guys do it. I am not strong enough right now and I really admire those who are able to keep pushing through. I hope I can get off of it someday soon. This whole experience has really shown me how horrible these "miracle drugs" can be. I can't believe how much of a mess I have been. The hardest part is that I am almost completely reliant on my parents, and I know it can't be easy for them to see me freaking out and breaking down all the time.

We totally understand that you need to do what you have to do to remain functional in your life, please don't beat yourself up or feel bad.  We'll be here for you when the time is right, and that time will come.  Enjoy your new baby and please come back and post a picture for us if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'm going to stop my taper too. I'm at 23mg of valium and may go to 25mg and hold for a while, as I cannot take this.

It's very understandable that things come up in peoples lives and they have to take a break with their taper. In your case, it's bringing another life into this world. Congratulations  Good luck with everything. Let us know how  you're doing, when you get the chance.

I totally understand, coming off benzos is a full-time job.  You have a lot to think about right now.  We'll be here when you come back.

Just want you to know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers.  I wouldn't be able to taper if I was about to give birth. 

 

You eventually will taper and we will be here to help you...
