Did anyone feel like klonopin was started to suffocate you?

Ive been going through a diffucult time for the last six months. No specialist and no doctor can pinpoint what it is. It started from a dental visit but now I think what Im having now is possibly klonopin related. Took klonopin for 3 and half months and now I take 100mg gabapentin and 1mg ativan to get through the day.  Facial tighttness , head pressure, nose feel numb , hard to breathe through it.  After many doctor visits Im at my wits end. Terrified, depressed and anxious. I and  dont know what else to do , its like this all day and varies in frequency. to not have something diagnose is the worse feeling in the world.

Since you've been checked by the Drs and they can't find the reason for your troubles, are you willing to taper from the Ativan to find out if that could be the cause?

Yes on the suffocating feeling I forgot to include that in my post just now. My nose somedays is so weird feeling and everything is, I too have been on the ativan for a short period of time, its making me crazy. God Bless you

How did you end up on Ativan, are you taking any more Klonopin?

Its been a month since I stopped klonopin.  I just switched to gabapentin and ativan instead. Howevver, I readlly want to get off of everything because these meds still work on Gaba. It will be diffucult because I know extreme anxiety will follow. Im so terrified and desperate. I was fine six months ago until I got a root canal.  :'( I wish there was a clean cut answer to whats going with me. Im currently seeing a neurologist and ask her about klonopin. SHe didnt think that could cause it but as all us know here anything is possible. iM extremely exhausted and feel Im failing my family.

I have had these sx you have described...especially the numb nose...which is throbbing as I write. I have experienced most of everything...except of this feeling of suffocation, and I hope I never do. My nose is constant; while before it used to be the tight band around my forehead...it has now moved its way down, I guess. The brigde area always feels numb or throbbing. I have learned to live with these, as they really are a minor annoyance. The only sx that worry me is depression, anger, and the ideations. I can't seem to get my head wrapped around those...they are what strikes terror into my heart.

Yes,  I have these symptoms but mostly the feeling like I can't get a deep breath. I try meditation tapes (can be found on youtube) I also practice really deep breathing. I take magnesium too at night. I would start researching the Ashton manual and building up the mental and physical strength to taper off all benzo's. Hopefully you have a good doc to help you. Prayers!!!!!! I am new to all of this. Down to 25mg from 2 mg Klonopin a day. Still have w/d every day and waiting to get stable at this dose.
