pain in back and side of neck

I am experiencing alot of pain in the right side and back of my neck today. Has anyone had this as a w/d symptom and if so what should I treat it with, heat or cold?

 

I didn't have it when I woke up this morning so I know I didn't sleep on it wrong. It started really bothering me this afternoon.

I suffer from right-sided neck and jaw pain. The only thing that helps it is high doses of Ibuprofin, a homeopathic remedy I take for pain, or ice applied (NOT heat)
