Nothing really worked for me for about the first year off and if I did get some relief, it was only for a night or two.  Fast forward 7 years and I can now get significant relief from Unisom (Doxylamine) an over the counter antihistamine.  I only need to take it about one time every 3 or 4 months for those one off nights when I can't seem to fall asleep.  

The main ingredient in Nytol, Benadryl and other similar OTC drugs that might help with sleep is Diphenhydramine.  It has been know to work for some people?  Otherwise your other option is a non-Benzo Rx drug.  Peace!
