Intrusive memory, Hello from Austria

Hy there

My name is Birgit and I live in Austria .I am sorry about my English,it's not perfect, but I hope everyone can understand.

About my story :

I am depressed since around 20 years and I taked Sertralin since this time.Since 3 years I start to reduce it .

Now since June this year,my depression and fear and panic come back.

So I went to the hospital and they start again with Sertralin.

And with Xanax for around 8 weeks ,not daily but often.

I stopped it before 4 weeks completely, but I am completely on the end.

Every day,I have intrusive memories,I shake the whole day,I have dp/Dr and so many bad bad feelings and panic the whole day.

Now my question, does it come maybe also from Stopping Sertralin or from the Xanax.

I am so finish with my nerves , and I just want to know other meanings .

Thanks for reading my story.

Best wishes from Austria

Birgit

Hello @[Bi...],

Welcome to Benzo Buddies!

Your English is just fine but I’d like to clarify a couple of things. Are you no longer on Sertralin? Additionally, you took Xanax for about 8 weeks, what was the dose? Did you stop taking Xanax suddenly, cold turkey?

What you describe is very common for benzo withdrawal. It doesn’t take long for a physical dependency to develop. Before taking Xanax, did you have these feelings? If not, it is likely due to Xanax withdrawal. I do believe there is also withdrawal when stopping drugs like Sertralin.

Once we hear back from you we can better address your situation. Welcome, you’ll find kind and caring people here willing to support you!

Hello Pianogirl

Thanks so much for your help and your answer .

Well yes ,it starts with flashbacks about the Sertralin, but it was not so extrem. But it starts, and not with this topic.

Maybe I have to tell, that i have a lot of traumatic topics in my childhood.

And it starts with flashbacks from this.

Then I went to the hospital, because I didn't sleep for 5 weeks , not one hour!

So they give me a lot of different medications.

And also Xanax .

It was 0,5 mg And I didn't every day.

Just for the 3 weeks in the hospital.

At home,I did it again maybe every 3.day .

And I stopped before 4 weeks.

And yes I do Sertralin again,100 mg but I don't have the feeling that it helps me.

I also take 7,5 mg Mirtazapin,I don't know what is it in USA.

It is for sleep.

Really I am on my end,and I don't know what to do .

The doctor give me a neuroleptic with name Truxal ,but I have to much fear to take it .

I hope everything is for understanding.

Greetings from Birgit
