Recommended Posts

I was taking 3mg 3mg and 3mg of

clonazapam that's 9mg a day.

Is it better to taper bt taking away a little from each

Time slot till it's gone?

Or do I keep it even like 2mg 2 mg and 2 mg as I go down?

You can reduce any dose you care to, most members will whittle away at each dose to keep them even.  However, some will keep the nighttime dose a little heavy to aid in sleep or some will bump it up in the morning to hopefully combat the morning cortisol rush.  Its totally up to you and your lifestyle.

I was just reading your first post and feel it's important to put as much information as you can into your signature. Your situation isn't what we typically see here so I want to make sure everyone has a chance to see what you're up against.Add  your history/signature

Can you tell if you experienced symptoms going from 9 mgs to 6 and which diagnosis from the 3 different neurologists have you settled on?

Well they know I have a neurological issue.

I'm gonna settle on that and thier sending me to a seizure

Specialist.

As for the come down phew it was rough.

I dropped 1mg in the afternoon and half in the morning.

That was from 9 mg a day for 4 years.

I did that for 50 days I has some G.I. bleeding and black stools. Dr ordered ensure n stuff cause It's hard to eat.

Have to go see a gastroanterologist.

Anyway.

Now I'm going down more but I can't decide if I should drop 1mg at night and keept it at 2 1/2 -2-2.

So I'll be taking 6 and a half mg now instead of 7 and a half

Sorry I ramble n talk a lot and beat around the bush I love shiny red buttons and all that jazz (laughing).

But I think your right on the keeping it even thing cace he wanted to take away my entire afternoon time dose.

I said I don't think that's a good idea.

But he's my dr so I don't know.

I guess as long as I'm taking 6 1/2 mg.

Many Clonazepam users will dose twice a day so its possible but since your body is used to dosing 3 times a day I hope your doctor will allow it given your history, constant blood serum levels seem prudent.

Its usually possible for those on high doses to make fairly large reductions in the beginning but most will need to slow down when they get to the lower doses, please pay careful attention to your symptoms and their severity as you taper so you can know when you reach that point.  Its a very good idea to keep a log of your reductions as well as symptom severity to use as a taper guide.
