hypoglycemia

I have heard that benzo use can cause hypoglycemia, which I have had off and on for years.  Yesterday was a bad day for me and my blood sugar dropped.  I ate a piece of peppermint and it helped the blood sugar come back to normal.  I have heard we are supposed to avoid sugar, so what do you all do in a situation like this?  Thanks.

I try not to go too long with out eating something, maybe you could carry some almonds with you to snack on so it doesn't get out of control.
