Valium 15mg and Tapering

[Mr...]

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I was on clonazapam for 13 years, about 1.5mg a day. I used more most days and by the end of the month I was white-knuckling it. I found a med manager to do Ashton with me and wasn't doing well- still over-using, and using my husband's Klonopin on top of it.

I am now in an outpatient recovery program for drug abuse and "re-starting" my taper.

I have been on 15 mg of valium since last Monday and definitely feeling acute symptoms that I hope will level out later this week. After this, I'm going to ask for either liquid valium or cut pills 1mg per week.

Thanks for all the support- I will definetly be asking questions!

Hello Mrsredacrr  Welcome to Benzobuddies

We are glad you joined the community. I am sorry you’ve had  a difficult time.  Withdrawal from benzos is tough,  but you will come through it.  Slow is the best way with benzodiazepines.  Browse the taper boards, ask questions, we have some very valuable information here and lots of support.

It’s generally recommended to reduce your daily dose by somewhere between 5% and 10% every 10 - 14 days.  Many taper slower than this, whatever feels comfortable.

I am glad you are familiar with  The Ashton Manual, It is a great resource for understanding the effect benzodiazepines have on our body.

I'll leave you a few links:

Hi Mrsredacrr and welcome to BB. 1.5 mgs klonopin = 30 mgs of valium. I can see why you are uncomfortable but I think things should level off for you after a while on the 15 mgs if you give it some time for the K to leave and the valium to take effect. It did for me in 2006.  Klonopin is a very potent benzo.
