Quitting antidepressants

Recommended Posts

2 weeks ago I quit my antidepressant (escitalopram 10 mg).

I was on fluoxetine 20 mg for 4 years when it "popped out" in January 20. Since then I've tried several SSRI/SNRIs but have never felt my depression leave - the medicine trials actually intensified it. My longest trial was escit. that lasted 3 months. I suspect I had developed a reaction to these class of drugs and they would only increase my anxiety/depression. Of course, my doctor does not agree with my self-diagnosis.

Anyway, I'm fine now.

I guess sometimes these drugs can turn against you.

It's possible I might get depressed again in future. I'll try another class of drugs then but not right now for I'm in remission. Let me just enjoy life for now.

Every case is different - not recommending this approach to anyone.
