Increased Libido?

Recommended Posts

I vote for blessing! :yippee: I think we choose to embrace the good but sometimes crazy symptoms of heightened senses. It is probably caused by the same thing that causes the bad symptoms and that is too much excitement certain areas of the brain. :D I say it's all good. ;D I am loving everything down to how sweet the taste of food is to how warm the sun to how soft my pillow and to how hot I am for my husband. :heybabe: and anything else that walks by with muscles. :-[>:D

I say we CLAIM what is good to be ours!!! We damn sure have earned it! :socool:

Yes, we all deserve a medal for this hell!! I have to agree with wonderwoman that this heightened libido is a result from  the same hypersensitive nerves that caused the decreased libido. I would rather have heightened libido than no libido . My problem on the benzos was that I had a  lot of sexual desire but because of the benzos was unable to reach orgasm. No problem doing that now! ;) God Bless!

We need a sexual support group for people damaged by Benzo drugs! lol!  The fact is that sexuality  plays a major role in spiritual, emotional and physical needs of people! Benzos really mess with every realm of the human body! Unbelievable!! :-*:o

I'm sure there are many online forums which discuss sexual dysfunction, you might be able to ask them to incorporate this topic on their boards.  Or you could start your own forum.  :)

I had some bad side effects from Viagra. It made feel flushed and palpitations. I didn't like that feeling at all!! My wife enjoyed me taking it. However, it only benefits the women. That is why the commercials only have the woman smiling.

Missy in essence this is the sexual support forum! ;)

Yes it is, as long as it stays within the context of sexual dysfunction caused by benzodiazepine withdrawal and doesn't get off track as sometimes happens.  ;)

I believe La Pamster is saying don't get carried away and start going into descriptive details concerning the fruits of your newly revigorated sexual prowess  ::)  Ie... "going off benzos have caused me to try position x, y, and z"

My libido just kind of jumps all over the place, so it is kind of hard to plan for anything. In the meantime I will just have to look forward to eventually "suffering" through the increased libido symptom that you all speak of.  Hope I can get over this hump (no pun intended).

Hi Yoda:

I am so glad you started this thread.  I thought I was the only person who had this problem.  It is hard looking like a nice little old lady and feeling like a sex-crazed weasel.

Man.. you guys.. if you are complaining about an increased libido, you really can't be feeling that bad! The opiate detox folks revel in their new-found libido overdrive, that's a plus.

Roger that! The same thing happened to me. I had a lot higher libido when I was on Klonopon, however valium lowed my libido big time. I think it is because V is more for sleep issues which I would tend to think would definitley lower libido whereas K works on anxiety which would help libido.

And today i am even worse ...I didnt think possible but yes my mind is just very distracted...I think for me its more then elevated sex drive..i think it goes deeper then that..But yes very elevated libido..Jenny

I am new to this group and not even sure if this is where I should be posting this but I too have experienced a huge surge in hormones. It is UNCOMFORTABLE and embarassing and will not quiet down. My NP said it was probably due to the drugs I am on touching histimine receptors. I have now been taking benedryl during this time and it seems to take the edge off. I know this is a hehe subject but for me it is a PAINFUL subject and also one of my worst side effects.

Howdy all! When I first started tapering I had NO libido!! Now I'm like a stallion! LOL! I think of sex all day long! Seriously, just a little wild! I think it is because my nervous system is awakening and with that awakening everything else is awakening if you know what I mean! ;) I know a lot of people are saying why complain but when your thinking about it all day it becomes a little annoying!

I'm glad someone has talked about this.  Basically these drugs are tranquilizers and so when we come off of them we feel more, plain and simple.  My libido went up as well.  I remember when I first started tapering off the 2 mg of klonopin that I had been on for 10 years.  I remember it feeling different when I went to the bathroom and I remember my sense of smell becoming stronger.

I guess we have to make up for all the years of being dumbed down by these meds :)

Glad you're alive again, even though it can get annoying having sex on the brain all the time.  When I go to the gym I sometimes wish I were blind.  I'm in Southern California and there are some beautiful women here.  All in all I guess it's the symptom I complain about the least. :)

Yes since tapering lower doses of valium, I have noticed libido surges.

I think that's normal.. well, since valium is a muscle relaxer.

I think a little bit of a surge is normal. THIS is not normal--  It doesn't resolve for a few days.  It's to the point that it is painful.  I understand how people think well if that's your biggest problem ENJOY IT :yippee: But you have to believe that I am talking about extraordinary circumstances and unpleasant ones. If you read my intro you will see that I am on opiates as well from a spine surgery and decreasing opiates has the same effect. Thanks for replying!

I had this problem between month 3-9 benzo free.  It scared me but it all calmed down from month 10 on.

It must have something to do with hormonal imbalance in withdrawal.  It does eventually balance itself out.

Leslie,

I think it has to do with hormonal stuff too.

Yesterday I felt like a MAN and well, I well... cannot say anything here, but yeah.

I felt prostate kinda tingle.

TMI

But I think it is our hormones trying to get back to normal.

Also I noticed some rage along with this.

It's like loading a Grenade gun to what use to be a Rifle!

I just found this old thread. I am thinking of starting another one. I just cant believe how difficult it is for adults to talk about one of our most basic needs.

We can say masturbation, ejaculation, erection and orgasm.

When i was a patient at the Cleveland clinic, sex was one of 8 items that we evaluated every day. It is part of a normal healthy life.

My libido is way down and making me crazy. I wonder if i will ever be the way I was before.
