Sodium pentothal for oral surgery?

My oral surgeon wants to give me a combination of sodium pentothal to ease me into general anesthesia with propofol and ketemine after I told him I want to avoid benzos. Im concerned about the sodium pentothal since it is a barbiturate  Has anyone been given this? Also he knows my senstivity with abx and is not giving me any before or after surgery but I am concenred about that as well since I have a very weak consitituion and many health ailments. My gums and denttal condition is vey poor too. This dentist is a dentist to pro athletes but I dont know if he is used to dealing with very sick patients with all these health issues.
