Looking to safely taper from 1-2mg Etizolam daily. Have been taking this dose for the past 3 months. No previous benzo addiction or useage prior to this.

Hello thomas303, Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

I'm so happy to hear you wish to taper after 3 months of use, hopefully your taper will go smoothly and you'll be free from the drug.  Have you noticed any odd symptoms you attribute to the Etizolam, I'm just trying to figure out if your body has developed a dependence.  Many can stop taking these drugs without issue, but then there are those like our members who have a terrible time, hopefully you're one of the lucky ones.

We suggest cutting your dose by about 5-10% every week to 10 days but with your short time of use, perhaps you can go a bit faster, this should be driven by your symptoms though.  You can check out our taper board to see the methods we support. Planning your taper (Taper Plans)

If you begin to experience symptoms you can get support from those who are feeling as you are by posting on the Withdrawal Support (during your taper) board.

Please let us know how we can help you, we're glad you're here.

Pamster

Welcome to BenzoBuddies thomas303!

It is a good news that you have only been on your Etizolam for 3 months. Not everyone who taper experience withdrawal symptoms or they only have minor ones. You could check out the Planning Your Withdrawal (Taper Plans) discussion board for information regarding planning your taper. Also, you could look into The Ashton Manual for detailed explanation about benzodiazepines and withdrawal. It is great that you realize the importance of getting off your medication as soon as possible since long term use can lead to the development of dependence. Considering your relatively short term use I would not anticipate much difficulties with gradual taper. Please share your thoughts, experiences with your BenzoBuddies!
