Please. Can anybody recommend a doctor in NJ, NY or PA to help taper of clonazepam. I am in inhumane pain from tolerance withdrawal.

Do you have a current prescription of your medication? If you have enough pills, we can help you taper, many Dr's don't understand the need to taper slowly.  Can you tell us how many pills you have and how many refills?

This is the only Dr listed on this website for New Jersey, we don't know how accurate this information is.  https://www.benzoinfo.com/doctors/

It's always a good thing when Pamster replies!

Hang in there, it took me a lot of calling and coping with discouragement before I found a willing prescriber to help oversee my taper but it did happen! If you have insurance, a representative may be able to give you a list of names for both psychiatry and pain management. Even if none of them are wiling/able to take your case they may refer you to someone who will.

The doctor I see now works out of a psychiatric hospital. He also has a private practice. The number I had for those hospital doctors always went through a main receptionist which got me nowhere, with vague or incorrect answers. I had to ask specifically if any of the doctors had a private practice. I got two names and then I had to do several web searches to find the phone number that was to his practice and not to the hospital. It's as if I were seeking buried treasure.

I have no idea why it has to be this difficult for some of us. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Use this board as a support and resource while you search. Stay persistent-- you're worth it!

I am nearing the end of my taper and I'm not in as much pain as I was in the beginning. In all likelihood you will start feeling better as time goes on no matter what your own way forward will be.

Liz

Thank you for your replies. I have  only 15 pills 0.5 mg each, no refills left. I don't think I can not endure the piercing physical pain, the acidic burning, the pounding heart any longer.

We know you're in pain but the time is now for being proactive, is there any way you can find a Dr willing to prescribe you more pills?  If not, then I feel it would be wise for you to begin a rapid taper as soon as possible.  Lets start by cutting your remaining pills and figuring out a taper plan, are you willing?

The best thing you can do is to educate yourself about what is happening to you, this will lessen your fear, distraction from your symptoms is key, let us help you learn the skills you need to get through this, okay?

There is Dr Brottman in NYC  who is listed as an addiction specialist I believe but I know someone who he is helping with severe withdrawal.

Where are you located in NJ? I have a doctor who will prescribe whatever you want so you can taper at your own speed. He does not know about tapering, thought I was crazy to be cutting up my klonopin. He thinks I take 1 mg and I take .75 mg (in a very long hold), it is what it is. Can share name if it would be of interest. If so, please PM me; don't want to share his name on the forum.
