Ativan suspension - question for Builder or another experienced BB

Hi Builder - pharmacist called and told me they can get liquid Ativan suspension at .1mg.  Will this enable me to taper slowly and eventually get off it?

Thanks for your help, you’re a godsend.

A liquid will almost always make your taper more manageable as you will be able to remove fractional amounts, as opposed to cutting larger amounts in pill form.

I'll let builder reply to other questions, such as your mg/ml ratio, etc...

A liquid microtaper will always be the easiest way to taper.

I assume you mean .1mg per ml?

There is an Rx liquid Ativan available.  If your doc is willing to write you scrip for a compounded suspension, why not just ask him for the Rx solution?

Yes I believe it’s .1mg/ml.

Apparently that’s all they can get but I know it’s available.

Can I do a taper with a suspension though?

If you're in the US, then they can get the Rx lorazepam.  If they can't/won't, find another pharmacy.

But yes, if the suspension is .1mg per ml, it will be OK for your taper.

Thanks Builder.  I’m in Canada.  I googled compound pharmacy and there are a couple where I live and I can get the rx liquid there.

It’s comforting to know the suspension will also work.

I’ve decided to up dose and stabilize so I can return to work, regain lost confidence and set a routine.  A lot has happened since November including my father’s passing.  I am going to tackle getting back to me first and will do taper when I’ve found stability.

You’re really awesome, thank you sincerely

Ok, so it is like RX solution then if I dissolve in alcohol or pg?

The whole process of dissolving and measuring etc seems daunting but if others have done it I guess I can too.

Its about as daunting as stirring cream and sugar into your morning coffee. ;)

Hello MP,

I've actually found the liquid microtaper builder helped architect to be a smoother ride than pill popping or cutting.  It's even allowed me to ramp up my symptoms based taper rate with few sxs.

If I can do it, you surely are able.

Thanks Builder and Sierra, two votes of confidence worth their weight in gold!

I’ll be back to the titration board when I’m ready to taper, still stabilizing to updose three day so ago.

❤️
