Study, Nov./16: High-Risk Meds - "Are We Making It Easy To Do The Wrong Thing?"

The full title of this retrospective American study is called "High-Risk Medications in Hospitalized Elderly Adults: Are We Making It Easy to Do the Wrong Thing?"

A provocative title, no doubt. Like others I've read, it looks at medication that precipitates falls in seniors, and once again, the conclusion shows that yes, there are a number of medications that seem to be associated with falls in the elderly population. I keep asking....With everything that is ALREADY KNOWN, why not stop prescribing medications with known fall-risks to vulnerable seniors?  :tickedoff:

"OBJECTIVES: To examine dosages of high-risk medications administered to elderly adults who fall in the hospital and to determine whether electronic default doses are appropriate for elderly adults."

Probably going to keep studying it until it stops.  It's a shame to me how many elderly are placed on these drugs for sleep with no or inaccurate warnings, or those who seem to be automatically put on them in assisted living and care facilities.  We made a video about seniors.. Elderly injury is something near and dear to my heart, as my only grandmother died from a prescription that shut down her kidneys.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjYaaeliIxg

The elderly are just like the children - defenseless. It's too easy to just give them a pill. And most of the pills used for calming down or for insomnia have warnings about falls.
