Hello! Here for support and taper advice.

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm 18 months into my taper from a 2mg Ativan dose that I've been on for about 7 years now. I'm currently down to under .5 mg daily and I'm doing liquid titration to kick the last .5 mg. I'm glad I found this site because I've learned over my time tapering that it's very difficult to understand how much this affects your life until you go through it. I'd like to be here to support others who might just be starting a taper and learning about benzos. I also have my own journey that still wears me down and gets me frustrated. I have no support from the medical community in my area but thankfully gained much information from others willing to share their stories and experiences.

Right now, I'm in the spot where I can see a light at the end of the tunnel, but I'm still getting hit with symptoms. It's less that it was at first and I'm so very thankful for that. I'm pushing myself more and I want so badly to be normal (whatever that might mean for me) but I can't force this stuff out of my system. Sometimes I just want to drop all of what dose is left at once. I know it's not recommended and I'm pretty sure I've felt why. So, thanks for having this site and thanks for listening. I hope I can help others who are going through this.

Hello, Lemonpez :) - welcome to BenzoBuddies!

Congratulations on tapering your Ativan dose down so far - no easy feat! Having survived Ativan withdrawal myself, I certainly understand the difficulty of your journey, and I'm happy to say that you've come to the right place to sort things out.

I'm so glad you decided to join the forum - you'll find plenty of information and support here. Our members have gone through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal, so you'll be able to connect with others who understand what you're going through and can tell you what has worked for them.

Please feel free to post to any of the specialized boards, which can all be accessed from the BenzoBuddies Community Forum homepage. Based on the information provided in your introduction, the following links may be a good place for you to start.

  Withdrawal Support During Your Taper

When you have a chance, we highly recommend that you take a look at The Ashton Manual, which is an authoritative source on what to expect during withdrawal and recovery, authored by Dr Heather Ashton, who is an expert in the field. It provides a great deal of information that can be very reassuring during any stage of this process, including a list of common symptoms with helpful explanations.

For those who are currently tapering, we suggest reducing no faster than 5-10% every 10-14 days, and some taper even slower than that. One exception: very short-term users of a few weeks or less may be able to taper faster than that.

Please take the time to Create a Signature. This will allow members to see where you are in the process, so that they can better support you.

Again, welcome!
