I've taken lorazepam on & off for @20 years. I took clonazepam regularly for several years to treat anxiety. I'm currently tapering myself off lorazepam. I have a new Dr. & my plan is to stop after this scrip is finished so that I won't have to ask her to write me a prescription. I'm not happy about this because I love how I feel when I take it! However, I'm afraid I may have done permanent damage to my brain.

Hello HiHoney  Welcome to BenzoBuddies.

You are making the right decision in coming off these drugs, benzodiazepines should be tapered off slow.  The generally accepted taper rate is 5-10%, every 10 to 14 days.  The rate can be adjusted to meet your needs.  A slow taper will help to keep withdrawal symptoms manageable.

Although withdrawal symptoms may be severe at times.. you need to remember that they are temporary, we do eventually recover from this experience.

Please feel free to check out the forum and post to any of the dedicated boards, you'll find a great community of people who are here to support and encourage you.
