    Ode to William Perkins

    Oh stupid boy at 17

    playing with coal tar in

    a 19th century lab

    How could the Universe

    have foretold the havoc

    a future generation would wreak

    from the color mauve?

    Your eye beheld

    an intoxicating hue

    delicate, vibrant and

    mother to my misery.

    Wretched boy, your

    innocence led to

    synthesis

    medicines, plastics, chemistry

    rainbows of colors

    and riches to be made.

    First the birth of Asprin

    the color mauve a

    wellspring for

    modern drugs

    gushing in a fountainhead

    toward technology

    Big Pharma - invented

    ailments - benzo's - physicians

    as pushers - your heritage

    belied.

    I stroke my paintbrush

    with a trembling hand

    and curse the color mauve.

yep we are struggling with the effects of legal pushers.

i laid in bed unable to sleep and it hit me how stupid i was to get hooked by legal pushers - what was i thinking.

note to self - there were nights i was fully and legally drugged were i could not sleep to.
