Xanax taper Help!

Ok so after making realizing where I was at after 4 months on this drug and being at .25 3 x a day for 9 days and a trip to the ER I went back to four doses a day adding a extract .125 and doing .25, .25, .125, and .25 at bedtime it's seems to have made things worse especially with the depression mood swings. Agitated and anxiety so I'm not sure what to do, I don't think I should have went back up now but going down I know I wasn't ready for that either! Better for me to stay at four doses and just go back to .75 and leave it alone or back to .25 3 times a day like before? Which might me the lesser of two evils at this point cause more of the drug is not helping me!
