What's the difference between acute and post acute?

[Ba...]

Recommended Posts

Post acute is the period that follows acute withdrawal. The acute period typically lasts about a month or so. Mine personally was a wee bit shorter. During the acute period symptoms are their very worst and at times can be severe, or more often described here by those who did a CT as "horrific". Most feel some noticeable improvement after the acute phase.

Acute was what I describe as my non-functioning two week period after stopping klonopin (I guess I somehow managed to work...) where I felt so horrific and traumatized. Then it slowly started to get better and now I don't think about it. Nearly every moment during acute was spent thinking about my symptoms and barely hanging on.
