[...]
"One Day To Fly" - Alan Parsons Where does a dream belong Locked in the mind on the edge of time Like a ship lost in a storm How do we find the key Longing to see, through the artist's eye Maybe only birds can fly The man must be insane who knows A mind alive with images so strange So close but never rode the sky Watching the birds as they sail on the wind Trying to figure out the reason why Picturing wings held together with string One day to fly Someone said and I believe Try if you dare, you can walk on air A dream is all you need A circle that takes you high Lighter than air as the earth goes by Through a spiral in the sky The man must be insane who knows A mind alive with images so strange So close but never rode the sky Watching the birds as they sail on the wind Trying to figure out the reason why Picturing wings held together with string Just a charcoal sketch on canvas Made them laugh but now they see That the artist had a vision That the wind could set us free Its a bridge until tomarrow Taking us beyond the sun As the artist paints his picture The storys just begun Analyzing, criticizing Fear of the unknown Theorizing, visualizing The road to take us home If it takes forever Someones gonna fly We may never get to heaven But still we're gonna try Watching the birds As they sail on the wind One day to fly

I was thinking, if anyone's looking for background music for a w/d documentary or the like, there's a whole catalogue of choices for them here. Such a crazy (being polite ) ride this is. [...]
❤️ Hmmm that's a first...a Natalie trilogy...she deserves it Ooh, lookee what I found, MB. A *flying/bird* song!!! Packed with love, just so much love, and strength, strength strength. And ... pandas! http://amolife.com/image/images/stories/Animals/animals_in_love_16.jpg "Ladybird" - Natalie Merchant Hey, Ladybird, ain’t it just the way The way that love grows cold And then fades away Now when he touches you Make no mistake The fire’s long gone out And the ash has blown away And you don’t know how to leave And you don’t know where to fly You don’t know what you feel But you know it’s not satisfied today So many little ones So many mouths You’ve got a lot to feed And you know you don’t know how You're making the best of it Somehow you’re making do Making the best of the days that you stay And you wait in this cage they made for you And you don’t know how to leave And you don’t know where to fly And you’ve got a lot of things to lose So you’ve got a lot of things to hide You know you don’t believe But you know you’ve got to try today You know the sweetest wine It’s a witch's brew Pours like honey down And then burns a hole in you Yeah, you may think you’re done But you’re never through Spitting out the bitterness To get the little sweetness you do You don’t know how to leave And you don’t know where to fly You’ve got a lot of things to lose So you’ve got a lot of things to hide And you don’t know what you feel But you know it’s not satisfied And you know you don’t believe But you know you’ve got to try today Feel the winter bitterness It’s heavy on the wind Coming back again Maybe it’s time to fly Time to fly away When you gonna spread your wings and fly When you gonna fly away When you gonna fly away
[La...]
Sorry to say, the background music for a benzo withdrawal documentary would be people crying. :'( By the way, thanks, Everyone, for the musical treats! I check out a few here and there when I can. I just fell in love with Natalie Merchant all over again, so thanks for that one, Saga. abcd, I've checked out a few of yours recently too. Always a surprise here or there. Here's one in honour of the passing of the wildly talented Gene Wilder: "Pure Imagination" from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory":
[...]
Always a surprise here or there? As long as it's a nice surprise, Lapsy, I'm hoping? Well, in my world the background music would be more X-Rated, lots of moaning and groaning and sighing. Speaking of which, some stunning sensual music, if you're interested, the soundtrack to "Bilitis" by Francis Lai, just gorgeous. Here's a couple of them ... [...]
[shadow=teal, left]Today's a Very Special Day[/shadow] http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BPbKS3BqqYA/U-pCIZFd_NI/AAAAAAABzIw/eSY5CBJzRCA/s1600/Happy%2BBirthday%2BGif%2B41.gif To You My Very Dear And Very, Very, [shadow=teal, left]* VERY *[/shadow] Special Friend Saga MB My beautiful friend Well, I thought long and hard about whether to make this all serious and gushy (Which I know you love, go on, admit it), Or to be my usual naturally hilarious self today. And the gushy won out, guess I'm just in that kind of a sentimental mood today. So ... Celebrating your special day with, what else ... *** Adorable Pandas *** Starting with a nice big panda hug for you ... And a little birthday kiss ... MB, you know how much you mean to me and how much I cherish our friendship. To connect with someone on such a deep and authentic level Is truly a gift to be treated like gold and treasured for life. I thank the Heavens ... and Colin too ... Oh, and Buddy and the Pug of course, don't forget the Pug. Thank you for always being there to stop me from falling ... (That's you on top of course ) And I adore your humor and how much fun we still manage to find amidst the madness ... I honestly cannot think how I'd have coped and/or Where I'd have found the strength to continue on this Gd awful journey without you. Yet together we somehow found the beauty Beneath the madness and the pain. I love you so very, very, very much! Always! Happy Birthday, you strong, beautiful woman you. Wishing you only good health, health, HEALTH And everything else will follow! Ending off with my pole dancing routine which I've been practising forever ... Yay, nailed it, hah ... And your song for today. So many I had in mind, but I eventually chose this one. "One Friend" - Dan Seals I always thought you were the best I guess I always will I always felt that we were blessed And I feel that way still Sometimes we took the hard road But we always saw it through If I had only one friend left I'd want it to be you. Sometimes the world was on our side Sometimes it wasn't fair Sometimes it gave a helping hand Sometimes we didn't care Cause when we were together It made the dream come true If I had only one friend left I'd want it to be you Someone who understands me And knows me inside out And helps keep me together And believes without a doubt That I could move a mountain Someone to tell it to If I had only one friend left I'd want it to be you Cause when we were together It made the dream come true If I had only one friend left I'd want it to be you Someone who understands me And knows me inside out And helps keep me together And believes without a doubt That I could move a mountain Someone to tell it to If I had only one friend left I'd want it to be you :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
[Re...]
My favorite Bob Dylan song You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last But whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast Yonder stands your orphan with his gun Crying like a fire in the sun Look out the saints are comin' through And it's all over now, Baby Blue. The highway is for gamblers, better use your sense Take what you have gathered from coincidence The empty handed painter from your streets Is drawing crazy patterns on your sheets This sky, too, is folding under you And it's all over now, Baby Blue. All your seasick sailors, they are rowing home Your empty handed armies, are all going home Your lover who just walked out the door Has taken all his blankets from the floor The carpet, too, is moving under you And it's all over now, Baby Blue. Leave your stepping stones behind, something calls for you Forget the dead you've left, they will not follow you The vagabond who's rapping at your door Is standing in the clothes that you once wore Strike another match, go start a new And it's all over now, Baby Blue. [Re...]
Band Of Horses "No One's Gonna Love You" It's looking like a limb torn off Or altogether just taken apart We're reeling through an endless fall We are the ever-living ghost of what once was But no one is ever gonna love you more than I do No one's gonna love you more than I do And anything to make you smile It is my better side of you to admire But they should never take so long Just to be over then back to another one But no one is ever gonna love you more than I do No one's gonna love you more than I do But someone, They could have warned you When things start splitting at the seams and now The whole thing's tumbling down Things start splitting at the seams and now If things start splitting at the seams and now, It's tumbling down Hard. Anything to make you smile You are the ever-living ghost of what once was I never want to hear you say That you'd be better off Or you liked it that way But no one is ever gonna love you more than I do No one's gonna love you more than I do But someone They should have warned you When things start splitting at the seams and now The whole thing's tumbling down Things start splitting at the seams and now If things start splitting at the seams and now, It's tumbling down Hard
[Sa...]
If I lose one more post today I'm going to scream Here I am attempting to say thank you for one of the most perfect heartfelt and totally beautiful celebrations from my dearest friend, MB , simply extraordinary, I had tears in my eyes and then I started laughing at the pole dancing pandas, it was all sheer perfection, almost as perfect as you, now don't start choking when you read that ok? I'm being soooo serious in my own way, alright MB total lltsm for real. How in the world we manage to laugh ourselves silly in the middle of such absolute straight up suffering is beyond me. But talk about connection and the bond we share , the love and the strength.....I really and truly don't have the words. I think I'm flailing badly here so I'll exit before I really mess this up I just love you soooooo much MB, that's all. [La...]
Ok I'm not done, is anyone laughing yet? Remy, great songs, thanks! I have to go find my favorite Dylan song. Lapis, so nice to see you posting here again, Natalie is awesome isn't she? So glad you enjoyed those. I think hands down her album Ophelia is sheer brilliance Ok now I am out for now Saga, for my fave Natalie stuff, it's still mostly 10,000 Maniacs, plus a number of other more recent tunes of hers. Actually, she could sing the phone book and it would sound beautiful. I do drop in here from time to time, but I get behind. I've been on an Irish traditional music tangent recently, which is not everyone's taste. Then I found a brilliant duet with Karan Casey and James Taylor, plus a bunch more "Transatlantic Sessions" between UK artists and US/Canadian ones, filmed by the BBC. It can take me away for hours and then fill my head with another world of music for days. That's where I'm at. Before that, I was stuck on Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks' versions of "Angel From Montgomery"and "Darling Be Home Soon". I listened to them over, and over, and over again. Such musical gems. All of these musicians are helping me get through the scary days and nights.

[Sa...]
What a nice way to start the day, thanks Lapis Beautiful! I think it's fairly obvious I've always been drawn to the darker more maudlin tunes, I've always been for some reason, sigh.... I'm intrigued by the traditional Irish music, there is literally nothing you can't find on YouTube, is there? Thankfully I should add. You know, I remember way back you had a list going of rocky boat songs. This is one I remember from way back, my Dad would sing along to this one. Badly. Don't know if it's on your list, but I heard it recently. Hues Corporation-" Rock The Boat"
[La...]
Omigosh, Saga! Thanks so much! I don't think I have that one on my "Music for a Dizzy Dame" list! And weirdly, I remember the words! It's funny how music gets stuck in the corners of our minds. And, yes, I agree, YouTube is an amazingly wonderful thing when it comes to discovering -- or rediscovering -- music. "Red Berries" - Angus & Julia Stone I ate the red berries And fell into the pond I found myself in a dream Where all my worries were gone So I swam up to the top And strolled up into a land Where people aren't who they're not I thought wouldn't that be grand Wouldn't that be grand Birds don't whistle They just sing Birds don't whistle They just sing Things just aren't as they seem Birds don't whistle They just sing They sung this song I ate the red berries The ones you told to leave alone On the devil's shoulder I leaned As I fell through the clouds like a storm So I climbed up to the top And jumped off into a land Where people aren't who they're not I thought wouldn't that be grand Wouldn't that be grand Birds don't whistle They just sing Birds don't whistle They just sing Things just aren't as they seem Birds don't whistle They just sing They sung this song
[...]
"Stormy Waters" - The Hollies Stormy waters I can't find the harbor Stormy waters Keeps me away Stormy waters I can't try any harder And all I ask is to know I'm near the bay I did it again I let another year roll away So I pretend That I've got a reason to say I'm closer to having you I never should have strayed I wish it could be easier For me to end someday Stormy waters I can't find the harbor Stormy waters Keeps me away Stormy waters I can't try any harder And all I ask is to know I'm near the bay Whatever I did Tell me would I do the same again If I could relive Would it be the same in the end Cause every day has a funny way Of ending up so blue I wish it could be easier To get back with you Stormy waters I can't find the harbor Stormy waters Keeps me away Stormy waters I can't try any harder And all I ask is to know I'm near the bay
