Knackered Maxes Out with Benzos

Hey there,  Knackered here.  Survival, whether we’re lost in the woods or stuck at home during a blizzard is dependent on a few simple things.  To make it through, we’re going to need some water; without which we’ll only last a few days before dehydration sets in and we’re not long for this world.  Food, on the other hand can become a problem only after a couple hungry weeks go by.  If our BMI is a tad over the load limit, we may be ok for a bit longer.

Beyond that there are the obvious creature comforts we all crave: warmth, a roof over out heads and at least some sort of socialization.  If we want to move even further into a civilized life, mobility and enough energy to do so are key to mental and physical well being.  The ability to move forward increases our urge to socialize and is one of the things that is needed to maintain some degree of health.  Pods of whales head to warmer climes, flocks of geese fly south, and bears eat all they can and hunker down for a good nap.  All things know that moving, accompanied by necessary rest are what keeps you going.

Of all forms of life, humans are the only ones that really don’t know when to stop.  We can work ourselves into the ground, and endure unnecessary stress just to prove our worth.  While movement can be productive, we of all humans, need to know when enough is enough.

Most of us in this sub group of Benzo withdrawal have limited our trips out and been skimpy with the amount of energy we’re willing to expend at any given time.  To survive this episode in our lives we have to be keenly aware of the need to do this and smart enough to figure out how.  Finding ways to rest frequently helps conserve what little go power we still have.  Until yesterday, I thought I was wisely practicing my life this way.

An early morning appointment at the Vet with our lame dog had us heading out for what we envisioned would be a short jaunt.  When I discovered I had left my lights on while waiting in the car, it failed to start.  It was out of energy.  While my  wife agreed to walk home (a good 45 minutes or so) and  return with our other car and jumper cables, I happily agreed.

Some time later, after we had energized the vehicle, I headed to the mechanic to have the battery checked out.  Our poor dog was out of energy in the back seat and had fallen asleep.  Forgetting all about him, both my wife and I headed out in different directions; she to home and me to get a new battery.  Arriving at the shop, I was given good news.  The battery was still on warranty and needed only recharging.  I turned the car over to them, only to realize that I had no way home.  My wife, having just arrived at home realized that she had no house keys and couldn’t get in.  After playing phone tag for a bit, we reconnected and she came to get me.

Once she arrived and both of us informed each other that we were moving, but completely out of energy.  I climbed in with her, suddenly realizing that our pup was still asleep in the back seat of the car in the shop.  Waking the poor guy up and depositing him in the car to go home further enhanced our wasted beings. We made it back to the house, lunched everyone up, only for the vet’s office to call back and tell us that we needed to stop by the pet store and purchase a doggy neck “doughnut” to prevent the pooch from chewing on his foot.  We headed to the closest, but of the two pet stores in town, this was the one that didn’t have what we needed.

While my wife dropped me off at the shop to pick up the recharged car, she found what we needed at the other pet supply store.  Finally, arriving home together at last, we collapsed ( I actually went to bed), end of story. Or so I thought.  The vet called back informing us that we needed to return at the end of the week for another go round.  AHHHHH!!!!  Totally knackered once again.
