Knackered Does Transitions with Benzos

   Hey there.  Knackered here.  Just the other day, Knackered was introduced to a person who happily announced that she created content for a living. 

   Not quite sure what this was all about, he leaned in to gather more information.  Apparently this sort of thing was not new, and was all the rage.  People with phones taking selfies and propping it all up online in an interesting way.   He thought influencers were tasked with this, but maybe they influenced the content.  Or were they one and the same?  Who knew? Gotta have content to be contented these days.

   At the grocery store he asked his wife who all those people were that pushed those weird little carts around.  She informed him that they were ‘personal shoppers’ for those ordering online.  He wondered why they were still here themselves, schlepping their own stuff around.  

   Going through the bank drive thru early this year produced a new phenomenon. There’s a person on a screen asking to help him.  He thinks that it’s just an A-I thing, but his wife insists that it’s really a bank person inside.  Now, he doesn’t know what to believe.

   When he went to see his medical provider recently, he announced his presence to the receptionist.  He noticed that she now wore a name tag announcing that her title had been changed to ‘patient access representative’. That’s certainly a new thing.

   Things are changing around the neighborhood as well.  The garbage people are now waste control specialists.  The lady delivering mail is in the business of personal message disbursement, and the plumber has repainted his truck to announce that he has been transitioned to a  piping maintenance specialist.  Just so you know…

   This is all a bit too much for management of the Knackered Benzo mind.  (KBM from now on).  

   He used to entertain himself at the library down the street, but when Covid hit, the literary resource manager (aka LRM; aka Librarian) closed the place and he had to buy a ‘Kindle’.  He’s been informed since that it’s actually an e-reader.  Go figure. 

   No Friday night was ever complete without a trip out to rent a VHS movie for the VCR.  Somehow the store disappeared along with their machine.  In its place, now sits a grey box with no slots or places to insert anything.  

   The thing’s supposed to have HDMI with RCA cable access; hmm.  It does record stuff and allow you to watch movies and all, but Knackered hasn’t even figured out the remote yet.  You’re supposed to talk to it (the remote that is), but that creeps him out more than the mystery face at the bank.  

   Like most of the stuff that comes in the door, he leaves it to the domestic engineer/home manager.  She’s never taken Benzos and can figure out most everything.  At least she’s still his friend.  Of course she is.
