Can I take gabapentin while I am tapering off my diazepam?

This may be off topic but maybe some of the experts would know. My main question is are we healing and withdrawing as we taper or does healing and withdrawal only occur once we have jumped? It seems that I have never been able to get an answer to that in all my research.

@[kl...] I do believe we heal to an extent as we taper, or at least our body adapts to handle getting fewer and fewer amounts of the drug without going into acute withdrawal. I had many symptoms go away as I tapered, and others have experienced the same, so I'm not sure what you could call that other than healing. However, I do believe the lion's share of the healing occurs after getting off the drug, because the GABA(a) receptors now have an unhindered chance to come back online without the continual presence of a benzodiazepine.

@[he...]so have you seen people avoid a lot of acute by doing a proper taper? Where most of their symptoms happened through the taper and were actually less after the jump?
