That is an interesting plant, sounds like a tough one to grow!

Is a hummingbirds weight closer to that of a nickel or a quarter?

What famous 19th century Irish writer & aesthete who did a stint in Reading Gaol, & is remembered today for his epigrams, said:

"Morality, like art, means drawing a line someplace."

Taking my best shot... Oscar Wilde.  (Do I get to pick out what's behind door number 3 if I'm right? )

A nickel

Isn't that amazing! A hummingbird weighs less than a nickel, yet can fly 2000 miles during it's migration.

I read where, when Oscar wilde was lecturing in America, he boasted that he was more popular than Dickens, and needed three secretaries to handle his fan mail. He was not known for his modesty. ;)

"The Best Years Of Our Lives", in my humble opinion, is one of the best movies ever made.

How many Academy Awards did it receive in 1947?

"The Best Years Of Our lives" received 8 nominatons & won 7 academy awards. I haven't seen it myself but  will look out for it when we get settled somewhere for awhile. I liked "Brief encounter" from that year.

You're right saraann, low oil, and also a loose gas cap can trigger the check engine light to come on.

Who wrote this poem?

                                              The Pasture

                        I'm going out to clean the pasture spring;

I'll stop to rake the leaves away

(And wait to watch the water clear,  I may)

I shant be gone long--You come too.

I'm going out to fetch the little calf

That's standing by the  mother. It's so young.

It totters when she licks it with her tongue.

                        I shan't be gone long--You come too.

And who wrote this poem?

"As I Walked Out One Evening"

As I walked out one evening,

  Walking down Bristol Street,

The crowds upon the pavement

  Were fields of harvest wheat.

And down by the brimming river

  I heard a lover sing

Under an arch of the railway:

  'Love has no ending.

'I'll love you, dear, I'll love you

  Till China and Africa meet,

And the river jumps over the mountain

And the salmon sing in the street,

'I'll love you till the ocean

Is folded and hung up to dry

And the seven stars go squawking

  Like geese about the sky.

'The years shall run like rabbits,

For in my arms I hold

The Flower of the Ages,

And the first love of the world......

I do to , Missy!

When I read one of his poems, I feel so relaxed and content. For awhile all the worries associated with the fast-paced world that we are living in disappear and I picture in my mind, stone fences, a quaint New England farm house, where in the kitchen, there is bread baking in the ornate wood-burning stove and a basket of fresh, pesticide free vegetables , ready to be enjoyed by a family that never had to think about the price of gas, global warming, or intrusive pat downs by the TSA!

I admire the Amish, they are still living that kind of life.

Just reading that made me feel content.  Add a quiet snowfall and we'll have it made!

That's right Missy W.H.Auden.

Was Anne Frank's diary called "The Secret Annexe"?

( There's some controversy about the diaries)
