Although Gore is a good guy.

Very Good Sig! And BTW, even though were not supposed to talk politics, according to your icons we're on the exact same page (except I would have given a  :thumbsup: to FDR.

And BTW?  Do you know the president who expanded with the most money (up until that time) for for social programs, (like welfare), civil rights, (voting and desegregation), women's rights, education, health care and environmental programs?  I mean, tons of money.... Part of "The Great Society" started by LBJ?

Yes Sara I known this. I like History as well. I was born in '79 here.. throw me some rope here, lol. I wish I lived more to see the 70's. My mother describes them as "Good Times"! She says us who grew up in the 90's were rejects from the 70's  :o As both decades have identities and are era's of fusion.

oh to answer the math questions. I need to answer those before I continue here.

I like this thread. Good idea pj!

Here we go-

It's really easy.

Express 20 x 20 x 20 x 20 in scientific notation. Or how would you express 20 x 20 x 20 x 20 in scientific notation?

204 = 20 x 20 x 20 x 20 or 160,000

It's summed up that way, it's using powers. Like r2 would be r x r, but r as a variable is constant, therefore it can stand for anything.. If you say r = 10.

r5 Just an example.

r = 10

105 = 100,000

or if you have a problem like:

10,000 x 10 = 100,000

104 x 101 = 104+1 = 105

or

20 x 20 = 400

(2 x 101) x (2 x 101) = (2 x 2) x ( 101 x 101) = (4) x ( 101+1 ) = 4x 102 = 400

or

20

20 x 202

20 x 20 x 203

20 x 20 x 20 x 204

20 x 20 x 20 x 20 x 205

So on ~

I write it out like this-

(20) (20) (20)

203

= 8,000

Ok, getting carried away.. you guys get the point ;)

This question has a lot of answers. I just formed my own.

I Googled it, and everyone has a different answer for this riddle.

Hi Keryn,

I asked hubby( Jan) the sphere maths question, & his answer was - " It is not possible to have an infinite sphere because when something is infinite it has no shape."

Maths is not my thing but I like Philosophy, literature, history & love music & snow skiing :smitten:

All the best arafurapearl :)

Hello arafurapearl.

Actually it can be expressed to a point. Some friends and I got together and here's the formula we came up with ;)

I did it on Latex because it is something I'm currently working on.

It's a very advanced Math question. You can show your hubby my figures, and I'm sure he can see where I'm coming from.

I have another formula, but it is so complicated that I would have to break it down into many parts, which I'm not going to do. :)

I like history and philosophy as well. Music I love too, but I think you're the Musician. I'll stick with Mathematician.

I won't throw out hard questions like that again. It takes time to solve it. Plenty of time, too much time, lol.
