Back in the psychiatric ward - Message of Encouragement for everyone

Hi everyone,

As you can imagine, I am sad, scared and feeling quite bad at the moment. However, I couldn't manage myself anymore and checked in voluntarily in the psychiatric ward again. It was very hard.

They won't reinstate me on Benzos. Which to be honest, I am quite happy about. They will maybe give me something to help me with the withdrawls symptoms and that's it.

I just want to give everyone a word of encouragement. Be aware that we always have a choice. That there is hope. And that our fight one day will pay off.

Much love

so sorry to hear that you're struggling like this

Are you in the US? Here in the UK they would most likely tell you to go away if you turned up at a psych ward without the police escorting you..

What did you tell them?

In the US you can be involuntarily put in a psych ward by mental health professionals, no police involved (this is what happened to me), but there are also voluntary psychiatric facilities too, usually if you’re involuntary it’s a 3 day psychiatric hold then it becomes voluntary, unless the facility thinks you need longer, then they can make it a 2 week hold (there may be longer situations, not sure).

Benzohope, I wish you nothing but healing and peace. I hope this time in the hospital helps you through to the other side. ❤️

Hi Benzohope,

I'm sorry you're back in the hospital but glad you have this resource available to you, I remember wanting to check myself into one so they could put me into a medically induced coma.  I hope they can provide you some comfort but please remember that we're here for you and will see you through this.  It takes a long time to heal but if you can get some help through acute withdrawal we'll be here for the rest.

Take care of yourself and try to remember that you can recover from this even though your mind is telling you that you won't.

Hi everyone,

Your words of encouragement mean the world to me.

Actually, they have been incredibly supporting in here. They told me they will keep me here for a couple of day, so I feel comfortable and out of danger. However, they told me I'll have to sleep at home moving forward so that I can make the transition easier. Fair enough. However, they tell me that I am able to come to the clinic every day and they made sports therapies, music therapies, pshycotherapie etc. I need to be thankful for that.

I dont know what is the definition of window, today I'm not feeling like I am dying massively. I still feel horrible, but at least I can walk.

I'll keep you guys updated. Day 7 today.

Sorry thats its got that bad for you  :( but sounds like you have made the best choice you can.

Yeah agree I live in the UK and tried to get myself in a ward, when it got really bad and they didn't want to know as they said its all normal you feel this way and basically told me to go away. So you guys are lucky in the US you have these facilities.

Stay strong and you know you will come out better at the end of this and start to rebuild your life

Benzohope, I'm sorry you are struggling so but the hybrid model of daytime therapies but nights at home sounds like a good arrangement.  Good to hear that the team there is supportive.  I hope the support you are getting there is just what you need to get you over the hump.  Keep us posted.

Best and healing to you,

Kate

I'm glad they are giving you good care. This is such a hard process. Hopefully things will improve to the point where you will be able to cope at home. It's probably a matter of getting the symptoms to just calm down a little.  Thinking of you!  :)
