So.. Im on day 24 no benzos. I was taking Clonazepam for about 5 years. 3mg a day everyday. Its taken me over 2 years of tapering. So 7 years total. Its been a journey so far. I cant put into words how rough this has been so far. Tapered down off the Clonazepam then Valium and tapered off that. Currently unable to work due to the withdrawals. I was working for most of my taper but towards the lower dosages it was too much. Also around that time I had a pretty bad breakdown. Dealing with the tapering, withdrawals, trying to keep a job while dealing with the withdrawals, Used all FMLA time at my job. (It was a blessing I had FMLA). I guess im just looking on here to hear other peoples stories. Post my story.. Wondering how long until the symptoms are going to go away. Wondering if its even going to get better. I got on anti anxiety medication because of panic attacks. Now that Im off benzos will I just go back to being anxious like before the clonazepam. Just alot of questions and hoping that now ive tapered off benzos things will get better.

Hello jr18  Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

We are glad you joined our community!  Withdrawal from benzos is a tough process.  You made a great decision to taper off these drugs, congratulation on being benzo free.  You will eventually recover from this ordeal,  but it’s going to take time!  We can’t predict how long that will take because we are all different!  Distraction will help, it’s not easy but keep distracting, it does get easier.

You will find some valuable support and info on the forum.  Please feel free to browse the boards and post questions to any of the dedicated threads. Check out  The Ashton Manual.  It is a great resource for understanding the effect benzo’s have on our body,  it gives you a better understanding on why you feel the way you do.  It also includes a list of common symptoms

Here are a couple of links to helpful resources:
