Starting my freedom - I’m joining because I was prescribed Klonopin 9 years ago for anxiet

Recommended Posts

Starting my journey to freedom.  I’m joining because I was prescribed 2 mg Klonopin 9 years ago for anxiety and insomnia.  I started my taper 7/12/20 taking 1.5 mg and it’s really been hard.  I want free of this drug but at a pace that is manageable.

Hi betterme79  and Welcome to Benzobuddies

We are pleased to have you here.  You will get plenty of support and encouragement to help you on your journey to be benzo free.  You’re in charge of your own taper, you should go at a pace suits you!  I suggest you do some research, check out the taper boards, ask questions, feel free to browse, we are all here for you.

A good resource about benzodiazepines is Professor Ashtons Manual it’s great for learning about these medications.  The rule of thumb is to reduce  between 5 - 10% every 10/14 days.  Many of us need to taper much slower, whatever feels comfortable. The aim is to try and keep any symptoms manageable.
