Five Years Of Tapering

Hello! I have been tapering off valium for about five years. Began my taper from 15 milligrams, with several updoses and then beginning the process once again after several weeks. Currently my daily dose is at one 5mg tablet, plus 4mg of liquid V. The last taper was two weeks ago with a tiny amount. Looking forward to support on this site so as to meet my goal of zero V. Also take propranalol for irregular heart beat and high blood pressure. Thank you.

We are glad you joined our community, you will get plenty of support here.  The rule of thumb is to reduce the daily dose by somewhere between 5% and 10% every 10 - 14 days.  Some taper at a slower rate, we are all different, whatever feels comfortable. The aim is to try to keep the symptoms as manageable as possible. 

 

Check out the Ashton Manual, It’s great for understanding the effect benzodiazepines have on our body.  It also provides tapering and withdrawal information.  You will find some valuable support and info on the forum.  Please feel free to browse the boards and post questions to any of the dedicated threads.
