Hi! I'm seeing a lot on Lyme disease! Are sx similar to wd? I can't remember if my dr ordered the test...if i asked. Should've heard back on my blook work by now. One of them is muscle enzyme test. Scared I'm gonna get referee to specialist. For motor neuron muscle type disease. It's hard to believe klon can hit muscles so hard.

I used to be avid exerciser. Muscles tight everywhere and worse am or if I overdue it. Even holding a cook pan to wash so.etimes. I'm holding at .125. Im so depressed and anxious over this.

I have no response on other board to some specific questions hope to find here... any of you have same burning fatigue esp morning?. Do some days seem better and worse? And even tremble internally if over excited or taxino the muscles? Also my weight hasn't changed a lot but look bonier!

Dr's think klon is so low it is just from depression and series of stress n loss.

I heard als for example doesn't fluctuate and just worse fast. I can deal w the long recovery if i just quit worrying bout a dis ease. Can't see specialist till oct.

Greatly appreciate knowledgeable responses! I figured a group like this knows..being into exercise.thanks!

I think if you have been medically cleared you can not worry about disease (although that worry is also a symptom of withdrawal/anxiety) I used to think I had all those things too, but I have been assured by so many doctors that I am fine, the ONLY thing that still sits in the back of my mind is lyme (I live in a high risk area) But I have been tested so many times and even took a course of antibiotics to be save and am still very messed up.

This all started after I used benzos, so the timeline adds up, it has to be these nasty drugs. I forget where I read it, but Klonopin is notorious for being one of, if not the most potent muscle relaxer of all benzos (they are all just a LITTLE different) therefore klonopin users tend to have a lot more intense physical symptoms.

Thanks for responding Crazypants

I noticed less pump when exercising at the latter part of klon first time. i took .25 for yr and 8 mo.  But when back on last jan i was hit pretty hard with the fatigue by feb. Mostly the legs.  And I have tried exercising. Nothing at all like i used to do. Wish i had found BB before taking it again. I was taking .5 for while then .25 now .125. The dr thinks its not the klon and its just depression from multiple loss/grief not dealt with.

I did have some bloodwork for anemia, liver...basics plus muscle enzymes. On Thur I called the lab (afraid to call dr) and they said it was already back but dr still hasnt called so i figure it must be ok. The tech said call the dr for peace of mind and that she didnt think theres anything to worry about. Says she cant diagnose over phone ofcourse but must be that she can read something on it.

Soooo... trying to decide how fast to get off the last bit. Cant believe how the fatigue is just all over the place! some days are not too bad.

Looks like you have been still suffering wd?? Are you able to exercise? I used to be a little dynamo in the gym. Just doing yoga and short walks right now.

Whats weird is the scale hasnt changed but 2 lbs yet i am boney - friends have commented on it. Have you noticed this too?

This forum may be the place for me to get motivated and get to the shape i used to be in

Hey guys!

I pushed it hard today on the hill, I was still sore from yesterdays ride  My app that I use on my phone said that I did:

9 miles

1 hour 23 minutes

1700 feet of elevation climbing

1,047 calories burned

Surfing on the couch now

I hope everyone has a wonderful healing evening

Hey Ninja that is great. Wow, over 1,000 calories? You must be wiped. I went to the park today to do my pullup, pushup chinup squat and sprint routine. On my second round of pullups, my arm/back sort of popped. Not a pleasant sound or feeling, and i had to lay off my last round of pushups. I guess i will find out how badly i messed up over the next couple of days. My arm and back are sore, but i know why i got hurt. I am just too damn fat! I think i will try shadow 1's routine. Looks simple but could give some real results. Plus no equipment/ gym and you can do it in a tiny space. Anyway- this was a wakeup call for me to stop being such a fatass, and lose some weight. Im at 220 lbs. i should be no more than 180. Have some work to do.

Hi guys thanks for your replies and advise  :)

i think it might be a bit too soon for exercise machines considering 3 weeks ago i was still completely bedridden. I am on my feet now for most of the day and managing to walk the dogs and do stuff around the house so that is a massive step. Im just going to give it a few weeks then try again

thanks buddies

Hi kris. Im close to your age (44). Was on klonopin for several years, check my signature. I got into a gym 3 months after jumping off a 15 month taper from years of 2.5mg daily. At first my body swelled up and i felt like i was an elderly person. After two months in the gym several days a week, i felt much better and the swelling went down, though the exercise may have initially increased my nerve pain. I just went all out on the gym. I feel up and down now, but exercise helps. So yeah, it took me 3 months of recovery until i started working out again, and i really had to push myself.  Hadnt done it for years. Totally worth it for me.

I did the .125mg wafers too once i got under .5mg. Jumped from .0625mg

Hi  Kris  I could have written your post an '''Lymes'' was one of my ''benzo paranoia's'' thats gone but plenty more take its place  ::) its a typical withdrawal symptom, and so is  finding it hard to believe that everything  is definitely withdrawal an not a genuine illness that has not been properly diagnosed. But I don't trust diagnoses either after a whole bunch of misdiagnoses from A to Z all turned out to be Benzo withdrawal. >:(

And any stimuli will effect your symptoms, being happy, stressed, tv, music, I got freaked out by a soap Opera I love watching and now am finding a lot of things I previously enjoyed worrisome thanks to WD :tickedoff: And like a lot of people on this thread exercise is a task and sometimes makes me feel worse in some ways or may helpul another way as I don't feel great right now. And other times I can't move off my living room floor but its all about some days being not so bad or even worse or better.

And don't worry about how long how much an what you can or can't do, I was a supreme athlete in my time and really fit and active an did all sorts of different exercises and now I walk and hike as and when I can, as thats enough push without pushing myself over the top. :D

we just have to try go with the flow whatever it brings. Healing takes many shapes and forms, its own way in its own time, our bodies know what they need to do even if we don't understand what or why it happens the way it does but its all part of being whole again. :)

Hi Kris: I just wanted to add in my 2 cents because Lyme first came from where I live. Nine times out of 10 the results are inaccurate. They usually say negative. The dr. has to send it to a special lab (I know there is a good one in Calif) where this is what they specialize in. My brother had Lyme disease that went undiagnosed because he refused to see a doctor. Then he finally called up my doc dad and he DXed it and said it was Lyme. My brother had five blood tests and they all came out negative. Then he had a doctor send it to a special lab and it came out positive. Most labs are wrong!

For the last seven months I have been vigorously exercising for one hour 5X a week. Using weight training and the step monster. I know not everybody can do this and I'm feel for you guys. But I have never felt better in my life! I think that is one great drug! I exercise two days in a row and take the 3rd day off. Rinse and repeat. And today is my off day!

I know that a lot of people while in recovery can not exercise. If possible I recommend sitting in a chair (in your home) and try to lift 2-3 pd weights over your head. Any form of movement and lifting weighs is excellent for the brain and healing.

Hi, I'm also an avid exerciser and since I started my taper I think I can't go at quite the intensity level as before but I'm doing well I think. For me I am trying to work out hard, about 2 hrs a day on elliptical (50-60 min) and weight machines. I am doing so with the goal of being so tired that I sleep well at night. So far, so good but I'm only on day 20 of my micro taper. I hope I can keep it up because I think it's good for the brain, the emotional well being, and the added benefit of having lost 8 lbs since January! My husband thinks I'm looking good! Ha ha!

Hi Kris

It seems to vary a whole lot among individuals. I had been tapering about 5 months before I could do any exercise at all. My first "workout" was a minute walk at 1mph on my treadmill. Exercise tolerance gradually increased for me but at a very slow rate.  By the time my taper ended I was able to do pretty hard weight and treadmill workouts. I would say just do what you can when you can. As you probably know, the benefits from exercise come from doing a little more each time no matter what level you start from. It will give your healing a huge boost. I tried to push my workouts up to the point where symptoms just began increasing but no more. Whenever I overdid a workout, which was often, I just backed off a little next time. I got better at judging how much exercise my body could handle over time.

Good luck

Hey JudyB

You're going to do great with your taper! So long as your workouts do not flare up symptoms, I say bomb away to your hearts content. Being chased around the house by your husband is also going to help you recover faster as well as do him some good :smitten:

First night of sleep in a year and half! used to get avg 5 hrs and slept 9hrs last night! I was real productive today. it rained but not now so i am gonna walk and see how i feel maybe do small weights. I like this forum i think it will motivate me.

I guess it was the remeron i started last week just kicking in? 15mg but i dont plan to use it too long. at least till settled in FL and get past some family financial stuff and have gone to more therapy for unresolved loss in life.

I was looking up protien and saw that lack of sleep causes muscle loss which i didnit even know!

I felt so much better today i forgot my quarter wafer in afternoon so i just took it. ...should i still do the last quarter before bed?

Anyway thanks for all your replies i feel reallly welcome :}

ps i found a tennis ball which i used against the wall rolling it around to dig into the spots i cant massage well-works great

I've followed your posts. So happy you got some rest!! Good for you! it's amazing what a good nights sleep can do. I was only getting 4 hours of broken sleep and I just took a wknd off and am in total peace and quiet and got 14 hours straight last night. Feel like a new woman, as I was hanging by a thread ( not literally) the other day. Tennis balls are amazing. I use them as well. So happy you are starting to feel a bit better. From your post, you seem like you are in such e better place. So happy for you!

Hi Kris is ever you miss a dose take it when you remember as a missed dose will put you in to withdrawal even worse and don't worry about it messing with your taper it won't as the dose is supposed to be in your body I've had to do it a few times when forgetting doses . Self massage with a ball, I put the ball in to a sock which makes it much easier to put it where you want it and reach awkward places without struggling. ;)

Thanks everyone!

Maybe the remeron is not in full effect everyday until im really used to it? Today was a tired day. any of you trying remeron? been 11 nights w it

I do feel better, I noticed sleep was a huge mood boost. In June i lifted tiny weights and then the season kicked in and i slacked. It actually been since 2013 winter since i was pumping it at the gym regular. Seeing the decline inline w klon wearing off in hindsight and the past spring when i took it again.

great tip on the tennis ball too

bets did you feel dizzy and little nausea when first taking trazadone?

Hi guys I slept good and got up w less pain and weakness :)  Its been raining so Im doing stuff inside w some mental clarity that i dont have w out sleep. Did some gentle exercise and yoga on the floor.

I laid down for a min w my bf and fell asleep! Still laid there for long time after. So Im up again and did the usual stretches and rubbing to "wake up" my muscles

Im guessing its the remeron hope its a side effect that will go away. maybe i will back off it alittle.  At 15mg

I didnt even feel  immediate need for klon first thing in the am but did do it later in am

Looking ahead online for FL things i can do. There is a center nearby w yoga, pilates, barre, zumba, and tai chi. Anyone recommend any of these?

Kris, there's excellent research supporting the effects yoga and tai chi have on physical and mental health. If you're just starting exercise they are often gentler. Zumba is quite a workout and involves learning steps quickly--something most of us struggle with in wd. Pilates is like more extreme yoga. I do some of it but it's very hard. I think being in any exercise class is helpful because we're getting a workout, support, and social practice/interaction. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

I'm reading a very informative book called "Rewire Your Brain" by John Arden. We all know that when we exercise our brain releases a chemical called BDNF. Please read below about BDNF and you will understand the benefits of exercising while in recovery.

"BDNF does its magic in variety of ways. It works within the cell to activate the genes that increase the production of proteins, serotonin, and even more BDNF. It binds to the receptors at the synapse, triggering a flow of ions that increases the voltage, which in turn strengthens the connectivity between the neurons. In general, BDNF prevents cells from dying and enhances their growth and vitality. BDNF is activated indirectly by Glutamate and increases the production of internal antioxidants and protective proteins. It stimulates LTP, which is fundamental to neuroplasticity".

Just tried a routine that Shadow1 had posted a couple of times, though I don't think I'll follow the recommendation on reps - I probably should.  Here's that routine, posted many times before:

http://slaintemagazine.ie/how-to-squat-3/

Had a "wave" that lasted about a week. Just ended last night.  Going to hike for about 1/2 hour - steep incline. My back injury from last weekend was re-aggravated today (I injured it doing pull-ups).  Guess it'll be another week or so until I attempt that again.  This routine from Shadow 1 was good: pushups, crunches, planks, squats.  I pretty much did them to failure.  Felt no re-aggravation of my injury.  Good stuff.

Any other home-routines anybody is doing?

Hey guys, I'm back....Not doing much better, but I've started going out on night walks again....Daytime is too overstimulating with all the light and sounds....Oddly enough I'm able to walk alone, I think the fog and dpdr have me too stupid to notice or have the fear of something bad happening that I used to get...Either that or I'm just so messed up at this point I don't care if something happens lol. Anyway, my legs aren't too happy about it, but I gotta get movin...Think I'm gonna stick with it and see how far I can get.

I'm happy for you CP,  thats great even a small step is a big victory in benzo WD and a start leads to a finish  I'm also managing to go out walking but am now feeling its getting to my rest stop point as it helps certain sxs but revs others up but I'm sticking it out for as long as I'm able . I decided to add some resistance training back in to the equation yesterday, but think I better just stay with the hiking my muscles feel even more raw and sore , but I'm also lower in my taper too. It seems like I trade sxs if ones ease up another one flares up or a new one moves in ::) But hey ho!! its all part of ongoing the repair job we have to go through  :)
