I should have been born in a different era; would love to dress this way all the time.

Would be interesting to know if you ever envision yourself in a different era (and which era).

Love you all, Ins :smitten:

Thank you, for the lovely music, quotes, humor and friendship.

You're all A M A Z I N G.

Ins, I have often thought this myself.  I always thought I would fit in much better in the 1800s.  I like staying home and gardening, canning, cooking, and baking.  I love doing things the "old fashioned" way.  It seemed like back then that the roles between men and women were more diverse, which I think is a good thing.  Even though I know in reality that it would be a lot more work, I love the idea of riding in a horse and carriage.  And I love trains and train stations.  I think people walked a lot more back then too, which I enjoy.  Like you, I also love the beautiful clothes.  One of my grandmothers always wore a hat when she went out.  Hmmm...maybe I lived in the 1800's in my past life.  ;)

It's an interesting question to ponder, but I can't say I'd be fully happy in another era. I love certain aspects of many other eras, e.g. slower pace, less destruction of the environment, beautiful clothes & music & art, etc., but women lacked freedom in so many areas that it's hard for me to see myself in those times. For instance, I love riding my bike! Women didn't do that until relatively recently, when they could wear pants and have freedom of movement. Women couldn't vote either or be equal with men in so many other ways. Things still aren't equal.

I guess I think I'll stick with the present, but, at the same time, I'll enjoy thinking about the beautiful arts from times gone by that we can still experience, e.g. paintings, music, sculpture, architecture, photography, etc.

Thanks for the thoughtful question, Ins!

I feel somewhat the same. When I was in my early twenties, people would say I was an "Old soul" I was like...huhhh? I like to watch the old tv shows and some older movies due to the simplicity and wholesomeness that they bring. Sometimes I get lost in that era, whichever one it may be. Its a good feeling. Sometimes I don't want to come back.  :)

If you could choose who or what you were in a past life, who or what would it be?

That's a tough one.  Although she wasn't from the 1800s, I like to think of myself being someone like the princess on Braveheart (Isabella of France).  Even though she was beautiful and feminine, she was also strong and determined.  She lived in a man's world, but she didn't let that stop her from influencing it.  She was quiet and demur, yet daring and forthright.  She left her mark on history.  She was passionate about life and love.

So maybe the 1800's aren't my era after all...maybe it's the 1300's!

What about you?

Hi Ingrid,

Thanks for sharing that video. The images look really beautiful, but my dizziness makes it tough to watch it today. I'll have to wait until my benzo-fried brain settles down a bit!

Happy Holidays to you!

"Don't Quit"

(by: anonymous)

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will.

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low, and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When are is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns.

As everyone of us sometimes learns.

And many a failure turns about,

When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Don't give up though the pace seems slow,

You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out,

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are.

It may be near when it seems so far,

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit.

It's when things seem worse, that you must not quit.
