Can you explain the rules, please? Are they all compound words, that is, two separate words joined together, like hardware? And is the middle letter always the first letter of the 2nd word.

 

Please don't torture us with your silence--this is unspeakably cruel!  -utc

Any word… I've been getting mine from a website and there doesn't seem to be any rules, although it is called 'Missing Pairs' and the words have two sets of letter pairs missing.
