The picture was taken outside of Las Vegas at Red Rock Canyon. It's a great picture isn't it? The fact that he's only about 10 feet from the ground and roped in gives me some comfort.

Hows the coast Leslie? The red rock reminded me of this.

Another beautiful picture. Is this the Grand Canyon?

We're heading over to the coast today to escape the humidity and allergies. http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/sick/big-sneeze.gif Not a fun time in the valley for allergy sufferers.

The first one was taken on the way to a little place called Pole Bridge. It's in the Glacier Park area. One of my faves.

The second was taken in the Bryce Canyon area.

Here's another.

Allergy season is here  Fresh cut grass is the worst for me.

The coast sounds great going to head that way after July 4th. Looking forward to eating at Mo's and the Chowder Bowl in Newport.

Beautiful Pix!  Are they Utah?  I love Utah and am trying to find an excuse to move there except it gets cold in the winter.  We did the narrows when our kids were teens.  And tubing in Zion.  It was awesome! I have got t get over here and post some pix.  Hope you are all well,

Hi FB,

Yes, they are from Utah. Went to both Zion and Bryce Canyon. I remember in Bryce there was a little one with his dad that said, Dad there's faces in does woks. Started looking closer at them and he was right. ;)

Here's a couple of those pics.

Just found this thread..I will drive everyone crazy with my photographs.  Here's one I entered into a product placement competition.  They wanted something a bit different.

Hi Flutterbye, nice to meet you too; Local competition for Capilano Honey promotion.  I am still an amateur but have sold some works on RedBubble and been commissioned to do so canine photography for some publications over here.  I do lots in sepia and B&W.  I also spend a lot of time as the volunteer photographer at our local pound for rescue dogs, as a good shot of a dog can get it a home rather than a quick snap shot so to speak.

I posted one of my favs on my blog called

"Hands of Love' if you are interested you can take a look over there, as I have loads of daily pics in my blog.

This little boy below had been in the pound for 5 weeks due to be euthed so I took a while to get something that sort of captured his sweet soul - he found a home the very next week!

Mind you it is challenging as I have to photograph them from behind the cages.

Then there is some black and white stuff I do too, lots of people think its so retro or passe, yet I love it.

Staffy, What a wonderful thing you are doing for the animals at the rescue.  I'm not sure I could do it as I would be crying all the time or else bring them home.  I am such a softy with animals; it breaks my heart.  I agree photographing thru the bars is very challenging as the lens tries to focus on the bars. Or even if you are doing manual the bars get in the way.  Can't they bring them out for you and put them somewhere better?

What is Redbubble?  I guess I could just google it right?  What kind of camera are you using?    Do you use photoshop?  I haven't learned it still.  It's been on my "to do" list for years.........

Awww thanks so much Flutterbye/Shutterbye,

I use a Canon 500D with various lenses, and I rarely if ever 'shop' any of my work, I am kind of 'old school' like that, the only time I tweak a shot is if it is for a competition.

Sadly, I am only allocated 3 hours on a Saturday morning to capture 120 dogs or more sometimes and as the pound is so under staffed they just don't have the time to 'get them out', but you can still capture the 'essence' or 'soul' of the animal from behind the bars, I'll include one here which breaks my heart, just look at his eyes, pleading for someone to give him a home.

I'll put some of my more 'obscure stuff' on if you like as I try to capture things from my own unique take on this crazy world we live in.  But of course, I don't want to hog the thread;  nothing worse than a 'thread hog'!@

Love some of the other amazing shots on here too.

What type of camera do you use Flutter?  I love my Canon.

Cheers,

Staffy x

This guy just got to me, he was an old 'blue heeler' his eyes are just so mournful......he wouldn't budge from the corner of the cage so this was the best I could get of him, sadly sometimes it's just click and go, with so many waiting their turn.

Sorry - one more I couldn't resist, this is my old girl, who has been 'mother' to many fosters and other rescues, she is a gem @ 10 years old.  Her name is 'Fat Flea', captured here doing her favourite thing, overlooking the pool, like the Queen Bee she is.......

Staffy, I love your dog shots so please do put more up altho I am sad for the other dog with the sweet eyes.  I hope he got a home.  Is your dog a pit bull?  I used to have a boxer wanna be but she is gone now.  I only have a cat at the moment.  I am using a small Luminex at the moment.  I used to have a Canon back in the stone age.  I am looking for a pro camera that is the lightest I and find as I have to contend with back, neck and arm issues.  For now my point and shoot is doing ok.  Years ago I used a large format camera.  They were allot to lug around so I had someone with me to help carry everything. I was able to use it thru my school ( I didn't own it).  Keep on posting..........love  your pix,

Flutterbye

There is a whole series of shots I took from sapling to flower, but I'll just pop on two - the series was called, 'The Waiting'....

You may have to click on the pic for full size as this site seems to be resizing the shots (which is pretty normal for forums)...... I personally love the first one.... in full size it is so 'alien like
