Oh Flutterbye, I understand!!!!

My brain gets this because I have been working with these programs a long time. Could not start now....and am not suggesting you do, but just an off-topic sort of thing here.

Adobe: company that makes photoshop and lightroom.

Lightroom: A program from Adobe. It takes your digital negative, catalogues it, and lets you fix the lighting, contrast, focus, and so many other things!!!!

Photoshop: Also a program from Adobe. Uses your digital negative, DOES NOT catalogue it, but like lightroom, it lets you do all the other things that Lightroom does, but it is way more complex and not easy to use - even after you know how to use it!

Thank you Hanna, that is clearer for my brain :D  So sounds like lightroom is a good place to start.  I have been using Picassa only because it was free and I also got used to it.  Creature of habit here sometimes.  But you are right, I have been thinking of using this time more constructively and learning this program might be a god use of the time.  although I did just buy paints to start painting also and ant to work on my writting.  Oh dear...........many projects lined up methinks.  How are you doing by the way?

This is near Sedona?  I go to Sedona so would love to see this.  I saw something like it years ago in I think Colorado.  Very nice pic!  My daughter and future son in aw and I went to some ruins but i can't find the correct spelling for it.  It was really a nice day.  I look for some pix of it and maybe you'll recognize it.  Are you in AZ?  I am thinking of moving there.

The whole area is beautiful.  My family owns property in Sedona, so I have spent a lot of time there.  Another fascinating place is Meteor Crater, near Flagstaff.  I wonder how far that that was felt!  The pictures do not do it justice, but when seeing it in person it is just amazing.

I am in Arizona.  This state has some really great ancient areas.  The next time you go to Sedona you might want to visit Meteor Crater, which is closer to Flagstaff.  It's really awesome!

Arizona is a nice place to live if you can deal with the heat, if you live in the major cities, for a few months every summer.  I often think of moving back to Chicago, but I've become spoiled by the weather here, especially the winter months. :)

I don't mind the heat.  I almost bought a house in Chandler last October but backed out at the last minute.  I can't decide which area I like.  I am not a big fan of driving everywhere; like small town USA kind of feel; love the RedRock if possible.  Warm winter so not Flag.  I like Cave Creek but just am not sure enough yet to buy.  The ruins had a funny name like Tuzi Gu.  I tried to google it so I know that is not the correct spelling.  I love AZ though.  Have you been to Wild Horse Pass?  The design features and architecture the natives did are amazing.  The details are beautiful.  I have not gone to the casino I just go to see the design in the main building.

Hi Again-I live in Gilbert, which still has kind of that small town charm even though it has exploded in growth over the last 20 years.  Just 40 years ago it was a small farming community of about 5,000, and now it has a population of over 200,000.  It's a nice place to live.  I used to love Sedona, but it has really become commercial.  However, I still think it's one of the most beautiful places in the world.  I stayed at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel recently.  It is a beautiful building, but the beds are horrible-like sleeping on a board!

The biggest problem with real estate in my area is that it is becoming difficult to find homes for sale.  The market has not recovered, but there just isn't much available.  I haven't seen a house for sale in my neighborhood for a couple of months, and when they do come on the market they are gone within days.  Chandler is also really nice, and just about 5 miles from where I live. One of the best parts of this area is we are only about a 1-1/2 hour drive to the high country and cool weather!

Oh I know Gilbert!  I love that cute western part of town.  We looked at some new development there.  forget what it's called.  My friend moved to Gilbert last year.  She is just renting right now.  Hubby keeps pushing to visit Scottsdale this winter.  My concern with Scottsdale besides age of homes, cost is the traffic in and out of Scottsdale.  I am not a confident driver and I don't want to be stuck if hubby is back here and I am there.  We might do the back and forth thing for a few years until he retires.  If I tell him yes to visit Scottsdale this Christmas where do you think I should look for houses?  I did not want to live on Awatuki(sp?).  It felt very isolated. So you feel the market is closing down out there?  It seemed flooded past couple years with so many houses for sale.  Haven't looked in a while.  I'll have to post some AZ pics!  Love AZ!

Yes, Gilbert does have some really cute areas, especially the historic downtown, which I live only about 1-1/2 miles from.  I grew up in Scottsdale, but it has become really congested and the traffic is horrible!  Same with Ahwatukee.  Traffic in Gilbert is about the best I have seen in the Valley.  It's not even really bad during rush hour.  I think your best bet for housing would be in the SE Valley, where I live-Gilbert, East Mesa, Apache Junction, maybe even Gold Canyon, which is beautiful.  We have a lot of snowbirds here.  I'm not really sure what the market is doing right now.  I have a good friend who is a realtor, and she told me it's beginning to look like the market in 2005 when people were bidding on houses because there were so few for sale.  I do know that you can get a very good deal on a house now.  I have lost about 150K equity in my house since the market crashed, but it is starting to go up again.  I think now is the time to buy.  There are still some bank owned properties around, which you can get a very good deal on.
