Is Barbie conveying to little girls that to be popular, and successful, they must look like her when they are older?

 

Does their self-esteem suffer, when they don't, and probably never will look like her?

 

I don't have a clue, just bored at work today, and looking for a diversion from the stress, and idiocy that thrives here at my place of employment..

Its not just Barbie, its every perfect body you see on television or in magazines.  Those who have not developed a postive self image will have trouble.  A girl in my dorm in college lost an amazing amount of weight and suddenly became popular.  However, it was for the wrong reason, she craved the attention that her new bod gave her and slept with every guy she could find.

 

Of course you know, I have the perfect body.  :o

:laugh: ..... I WISH I was hiding a 1959 Barbie in my closet.  It would be worth about 5 thousand.

 

 

What got me thinking about this, is when I overheard my Niece, and a couple of her 7 year old friends playing with their Barbie dolls.  I heard one of her little friends, who is somewhat over-weight, remark: "I wish I looked like Barbie."
