The reason for this is that honey may contain (in very small amounts) the spores of Clostridium botulinum, which can lead to infant botulism. These spores of Clostridium botulinum do not harm adults and grown-up children as their gastrointestinal tract can take care of it.

The only reason I know the answer, is because in the last few years I been dividing my time residing in the Northern part of  Minnesota, and Mississippi.  It is the state flower of Minnesota.  It is a really delicate, and beautiful flower.

Why doesn't honey have an expiration date printed on it's container?

 

Actually some honey jars do, but it never expires.. it may lose its flavor over time.

We keep bees and have saved back our best year, and 4 years later it has a stronger flavor than when first extracted.
