How Many Members?

I can't see anywhere where it says how many people are members of this group.

It would be useful for me to know that, as my mother has been prescribed Lorazepam and my siblings seem to think it is desirable for her to be on this medication.

I am unclear of what the risk is of being on this medication, but it concerns me that the NHS states that people shouldn't be on it for more than one month, so I'm wanting whether the benefit is worth the risk.

There are problems associated with long-term use of benzodiazepines. But it is not possible to make blanket statements.

Why was your mother prescribed benzodiazepines? What problematic side effects does she experience?

Ideally, most people would be prescribed benzodiazpines for no more than a few weeks. But after long-term use (and dependency has developed), cessation becomes a more difficult and nuanced discussion. And almost certainly, your mother should not stop suddenly. Rather, should would slowly taper off. But, again, cessation after extended use is a different conversation to cessation after a few weeks of use.
