Needle stabbing all over body and face

Recommended Posts

Okay so here’s a new one that is absolutely terrifying me, almost 6 months out from a CT and just today I started getting pins and needles all over body, like I’m being stung by bees. All over. Hands, feet, legs, face, nose even. Been 24 hours non stop now, considering going to the ER maybe. I’ve had burning skin throughout and insane muscle twitches 24/7 but never these sharp needle pains. I’m terrified. I had a brain mri few months back which showed no lesions but I have to wait another 4 months for spine mri to fully rule out MS. I’m scared. Anyone had this this far out and just start randomly.

I've never had it personally to that extent but I've read a lot of posts of people who have. It's almost certainly withdrawl related. Try not to worry.

@[jo...] thanks man, I really hope so. It’s so incredibly bizarre. It’s so hard for me to believe new things can just appear 6 months after stopping a medicine. I don’t know if I will ever truly wrap my head around this if I live to be 200

Wow @[Lu...], that symptom sounds miserable, getting stung hurts, I'm surprised by how painful it is every time it happens, I'm so sorry you're going through this.  I agree with @[jo...], its so bizarre, it has to be benzo related, but I understand why you're worried about it being something else, fear drives us during this process.

I hope it settles soon, because you know what worrying about it does...yep, makes it worse.  I can tell you that I was no where near being recovered at 6 months past my cold turkey and I was so disheartened because for some reason, I had it in my head I would be recovered by then, WRONG! :brickwall:

@[Pa...] thank you for the reassurance Pam as always it is much appreciated! 😃

did you ever have it all over body simultaneously or was it more localized to one location?

this is such a frustrating process, one day I think I’m starting to get better and then next day full body nerve pain and bee stings, funny old life.

I can't imagine having that sensation all over, mine trouble spot was my feet but that sensation didn't last long thank goodness.

Do you have any idea what may have set you on fire like this?  I know it doesn't make much difference but it makes me feel better when I can come up with a reason.

@[Pa...] I actually have been racking my brain but nothing comes to mind, only thing I changed was getting a new deodorant a few days ago but it’s a natural deodorant without aluminum or anything. Nothing is jumping out at me that could’ve caused this. Really no change in diet or routine, So strange. Usually I can equate a rise in symptoms to something, sleeplessness anxiety etc. but not this time. I was actually having a decent couple days before this started which makes me even more nervous. between the numbness, tingling, stinging, pain, heaviness and burning I have pretty much convinced myself I have MS or something. I’m quite scared unfortunately.

@[Lu...] I promise you're ok lucas. I had these all over too and very strong pins and needles. it finally subsided for me at about 12 mos. out. Do the best you can to accept you are getting those sensations and try not to let it consume you. I know it's hard to do, but it will be more tolerable if you can find acceptance. :balloon:

I’ve been getting something very similar this week. Intermittent. Started out just strong tingling in face and limbs. Then one to two days of it being painful. Especially in arms, like lots of needle. Calmed down mostly now though getting tingling and itch on face  at point of getting sleepy .

sometimes fourth and fifth fingers are getting really numb

this condition is like a horror show of new symptoms sometimes…..

This really doesn’t sound like MS to me but I’m not a specialist

I had mri brain and spine which was normal

My pins and needles get worse with the heat and tiredness and sleep deprivation

That’s almost identical to what I am experiencing, I hope it goes away for both of us. Very difficult for my brain not to suspect something more sinister as the cause, but I guess we just keep fighting!

I had the same thing. Arms, legs, face. Bee stings plus this kind of electrical discharge. It was hard for me to even sleep. When I took xanax - everything passed.... And it came back much more intensified a few-some hours after taking it. Only then did I combine it with a benzo. However, with me it passed quite quickly under the withdrawal of the benzo.
