Need advice from anyone dealing with SEVERE food sensitivities

While in tolerance WD for 2+ years without knowing it, I became very intolerant to food groups. I'm tapering off clonazepam (Klonopin) which is a mast cell stabilizer, and obviously de-stabilizer in withdrawal.  It all started with IBS symptoms and quickly progressed to histamine intolerance and then salicylate/amine/glutamate intolerances (almost all plant based foods...veggies, fruits, herbs, and any toiletries, detergents, etc containing plant based ingredients).  It's been a crazy ride.  It has been getting worse over the last year.  I have been living on the same 5 foods every day. Had to find special toothpaste (mint is very high in salicylates), and change lots of everyday products.  I am hoping to find an mcas specialist, however, I live in a rural area.

I know this community has many people with food sensitivities.  I am wondering if anyone has dealt with anything like this?  Do the sensitivities diminish as the body heals? I still have a long way to go to be free of this poison; probably a year +.  This has made going thru WD that much more difficult.

Any thoughts/advice would be very greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

Hi just like to ask you how long did you take benzos. Did you have these issues prior to using these drugs? I am approaching 7years off

I had this severly bad. At the start. Stopped all histamine foods and gluten. I slowly got better over the course of 3 years and could tolerate eating mant meals again. Even msg in chinese. It dissapeared.however i have had a severe setback due to taking pepcid. (H2 antihistamine blocker, works on reflux). Had an INSANE setback. Had akathesia for 10 months at 5.2years off again. Im now 17 months. And im reallt still ill. Im down to eating potatoes and steak. With some fruit. I cannot tolerate anything else. I was drinking coffee prioer to this setbacj and drinking coke. Now i would never dare to try such a thing.

Im sorry. Does it go away? Yeah for me it did. But was made horriffically worse in my setback.

You could try beef kidney /liver pills which are all natural. Produces dao in the gut. Not synthetic.

must also add, i became allergic to smells, fragerances. fuel / gas. really badly
upon smelling such things my heartrate and breathlessness would go haywire.
also a disease and conidtion that benzos gave me. I used this drugs for 1 year.
had a fantastic life before using them. and I have never resolved from it.

Wow.  What an horribly awful experience for you; I am so sorry.

I've been on benzos now 4 years.  Prior to being put on clonazepam, I was one of the healthiest people I knew.  Extremely healthy clean diet, physically active, enjoying life.  My job was eliminated when covid hit, I became very anxious and the rest is history.  I have no resemblance to who I was.

What benzo were you on? I can't believe that pepsid created such an incredible reaction. It's a recommended treatment for histamine intolerance.  Did the setback happen immediately?  Very scary.

I currently experience akathesia. Awful. I've had BAD agoraphobia for the last year. So, I can relate. I became unable to tolerate my thyroid medication, so my thyroid disease is now out of control, and no endocrinologist has had any answers.  All thanks to a psychiatrist and a little pill.

How have the beef kidney pills helped?

Once on benzos, I slowly noticed normal foods I was eating giving me issues.  Not in a million years would I have considered that it was related to the benzos.  Went thru all sorts of invasive testing including colonoscopy and endoscopy.  All test results fine.  I was suffering in tolerance WD for 3 years without knowing it.  Got really bad. Violently ill from foods, incredible anxiety, depression and fear. I tolerate 5 foods...chicken, white rice, carrots, potatoes, lettuce. Oh, and salt and ghee.  Have to be aware of possible cross contamination of cooking utensils and even touching foods with spices and glutamates.  I've become very sensitive to all odors, and chemicals.

Have you tried seeing an MCAS specialist? Thinking that's my next step.  Have to travel in the not too distant future and need to find a way to make that happen.

Wish I could offer some advice...
