Tramadol question

I had a recent out patient surgical procedure. My doctor prescribed a short course of tramadol (10 tablets) for moderate pain afterwards. From what I’ve learned it should not be a problem taking it after being off a benzo. I think I took it a few years ago for 3-4 days after knee surgery with no issues. Anyone have any experience & advice on this??

I was given tramadol as well as oxycodone after shoulder surgery, I took it if the pain was intense in the early days after surgery, I didn’t have any ill effects from it.
