6.5 year wave worse than acute

Recommended Posts

[id...]

I stopped Klonopin 6.5 years ago. I was mostly doing fine. The only skill I didn't regain was driving freeways and fast roads. Otherwise I was doing well, I had another child, I started exercising, I got into a new profession.

A month ago I got into an accident and got a few injuries. I didn't take anything other than ibuprofen and was recovering well for 2 weeks.

Then I started feeling worse in terms of anxiety, panic attacks, food sensitivities.

A week ago I suddenly went into a state similar to my acute but worse and I've been like that ever since: constant terror, tremors, difficulty breathing, all sorts of neurologic sensations, muscle weakness, air hunger, unable to eat, lost a bunch of weight. Went to ER convinced I was dying because my heart rate of 130-140 was not going down.

Before my accident I started to wean off of doxylamine (unisom), I was on 1/4 of a pill for 2.5 years for postpartum insomnia. Since my taper was uneventful and I was sleeping even better without unisom I stopped it around the time of accident as planned.

Is it PAWS activated by accident (delayed?) Is it a delayed unisom withdrawal?

The day when my acute-like state started nothing special happened, it was a regular uneventful day.

I have to add that I'm extremely agoraphobic and bed bound and before I used to hike in the mountains alone in snow without any fear (but with proper preparation) so it's a drastic change.

Hello @[id...],

I have to think the accident was the trigger for how you feel now. It sounds like a delayed reaction to the stress of the accident. This is actually not uncommon even for people who haven’t gone through withdrawal. For those with a sensitive cns, it can be more intense. We can think an event is out of our minds, but in reality it can linger in our subconscious.

Try to use the tools you garnered during this process to get through this rough spot. While this is a drastic change, I do believe you will get back to your baseline. Be gentle with yourself right now, it will pass.

The same thing happened to me and I didn’t have a accident , I don’t think you have any ptsd from the accident , I believe it’s a resurface of withdrawal , you know what it feels like , I think only people who have had setbacks can really understand this , there’s no other feeling like it . I went back to acute too if not worse . No medications but I had stress and flu , I think the flu destabilised me and then the stress was just the final straw anything was going to tip me in . Maybe your unison withdrawal made things fragile again and then the stress knocked it back like me . Nothing can be done other than to wait it out again

Stay med free I have heard of you ever have to take a pain reliever then paracetamol is safer than ibuprofen is what I’ve been told anyway . Hopefully it won’t last too long ❤️

I was 2.5 year Benzo Free also, did intense exercise 5 months ago for 5 weeks and lifting, my reflux started and many other Symptoms. no choice other than going back to SSRI (which helped me in withdrawal in past), going back to SSRI made my reflux and some Symptoms easier but lots of other issues, similar to acute but mostly mental this time. I am still struggling and not settled down at all after 4.5 month of SSRI. no other medicine could fix my reflux other than SSRI. now My Benzo belly \back and can not eat many foods, in same boat with you, hope we heal soon, but we need always watch what we do and eat.

Unisom is a hypnotic, same with Benadryl. You can research this. Antihistamines are not benign. Unisom and ibuprofen cross the blood-brain barrier. Drugs that pass this barrier can cause brain-related side effects. I would guess the setback is related to the drugs. If you had a head injury from the accident, then it could be the combination.

I do not believe anxiety and stress are the sole causes of such symptoms. Otherwise, most humans would have these experiences.

Thank you for your support, pianogirl!

I remember you from years ago, even before I finished my taper. You are always so kind.

Hope you get better soon, Look for rainbows!

I noticed that ever since benzos flu can be destabilizing.

I think you are right, Rebecca29.

I did have a blow to my face during the accident. I have scheduled a neurologist who will probably order an MRI. It just takes so long to get into a specialist in the US.

I started reading up on Unisom (i was taking doxylamine version which is the most potent) and I am shocked that such powerful drugs are considered benign. I remember taking Benadryl during my acute and thinking I'm drug free because "benadryl is not a serious drug" but now I'm learning that it is! It can cause dementia. Whatever can cause dementia impacts the brain enough not to be a benign medication.

Hi

This is termed a setback

Im currently in one thats been ongoing for 17months. I also devoloped akathesia and agoraphobia (cant leave my house, and im not a socially anxious person and i never had this symptom earlier). Im sensitive to all meds. And foods. Im.approaching 7yrs. Mine was triggered by taking pepcid..

You can look up my threads i have posted via my profile.

Matt samet had a setback from stress / rock climbing out of nowhere. Same with jenn leigh. They both went on to heal.

Sorry. It really sucks to be haunted by a drug we stopped so long ago. How are we ever suppose to be stable in jobs and so fourth? It makes it impossible.

Unison works on the cns.  People withdrawing from zyrtec, which is just N antihistamine have neurological problems. I suggest finding a unisom group on fb.

Ideal, I am in a 7 month wave now, which started at 7 yrs.  I used Flonase for 7 mos and the wave started a month after I weaned myself. There is no way of knowing what has done this to me. Because things were sporadically amping up for me before I even started the Flonase.

This wave is easily 5 times worse than acute. It’s brutal. The longer it goes on the worse it’s getting. Depression is worst sx, it’s almost all psych sxs for me. I lost 20 lbs.

I’ve spoken to Jenn Leigh and Baylissa. They both swear to me This is going to end. Regarding Jenn Leigh’s setback, she herself said she’ll never really know what caused it.

They both say they’ve never seen anyone not come out of a setback.

Sending hugs.

PS. Jen Leigh described to me how she had a lovely day, went to sleep normally, and woke up in such a horrific wave, She thought she was having a stroke. Just like that.
