Tapering Cut your own pills

Can someone please tell me the method you are using to cut your pills.  I started off with a pill cuter and a jewelry scale.  I have now realized that not all the pills from a prescription are all the same weight.  That would make my cuts inaccurate.  So, if you could share the method you use it would be helpful.  Thank you

Hi and welcome. The following advice was gleaned from others on site.  I’ve been using it for the last three months to continue my diazepam taper from 4 mgs and down. At a certain point in your taper, using a pill cutter becomes unreliable and even impossible at a lower dosage. Put it away and use your scale.  Using my example (you’ll have to adapt), weigh and record the weight of ten random pills. Compute the average. This become the weight of one pill. In my case, a 2mg pill actually weighs only .179.  Use that baseline to determine your tapers. For example, if you want to reduce by 5%, you’d multiply the weight (.179) by .95; 10% by.90 and so on.   Take a nail file- shave and weigh the pill until you’re at the desired weight. I usually drop by 5% every 30 days. See how it works for you. Hopefully someone else will be by with their own take. This method works for me.
