Can you still take lorazepam if you’re sick?

If you sick with a cold or a lung infection can you still take lorazepam, since Benzos can cause respiratory depression? What if you had the flu and threw up would you just wait until your next dose to take another dose of your benzo?

If you have become physically dependent on benzos to where missing a dose sends you into withdrawal then it probably wouldn't be wise to stop taking it just because you are sick, especially a benzo with a short half-life like lorazepam.

Yes benzos do suppress breathing but that is mainly from taking high doses, abusing them, or mixing with alcohol. If you are worried about vomiting up your pills I believe lorazepam can be dissolved or taken sublingually.

I am not a medical professional, so if you want a definitive answer to your respiratory infection + benzo question I would message your doctor. My guess is there won't be issue.
