Doctor completely going against me

Hi everyone,

Ao I have not met the doctor who has been soing my benzodiazipine taper.

I've been on benzos for for over twenty years. Since age 18. Heavy doses for most times. Back in the day doctors and pharmacists rarely asked much. 

So this doctor was very friendly and true to his word. Yet today I simply made an appointment for pregablin and mirtazipine refills. Clonazepam is to be given 3 days at a time so i had to fight through yesterday. My crazy soon to be ex wife took all my pills and ruined some clothing. We have a child together she took him as well and I told the doctor. 

He dropped my dose down to 4 mg knowing I was just starting 5.5 for clonazepam and only gave 14 pills. But gave an abundant amount of the 2 mg pills. I would never have known the clonazepam limited supply but luckily I went to the pharmacy for once. 

He made everything a three day supply which will make the pregablin like over. Two hundred a month. That's not right doctors know costs or at least tell me but he's doing anything and everything which is making me go insanely nervous.

What do you guys think I should say to him regarding the 14 day supply? I'm scared now big time. All I can think is he is intending on taking it to 4 mg in 14 days. 

Its frightening so not only is he not working with me he is not understanding at all. Unless he plans revisiting it but from the start it was drop by 0.5 every two weeks. Now he is just screwing around.

I guess he may just keep me at 4 until finishes so I can ask the pharmacy but I made an appointment with him on the 20th. I'm thinking just stop all appointments with him and get whatever else I need from elsewhere. I mesn he's going from 5 to 4mg according to his prescription in 14 days. 

I don't have any idea what to do. I have a back up doctor who's a pain specialist who I might have to go to as this guys simply is making assumptions. 

The pharmacy also is getting mad when I call. He's adding to my anxiety I'm in trouble now.

I had all kinds of problems with my original provider.  He ‘tapered me’ and I had no say whatsoever in any of it.  The Health Care System around here is a monopoly for miles in all directions. There plenty of therapists in town, but none who can prescribe. I finally petitioned the hospital admins who control all aspects of this place, turned the guy in and secured a new provider. If you live in the US, be careful. I was accused of doctor shopping ( illegal) and declared medically noncompliant. The vindictive report left in my file wrecked my chances of getting assigned to anyone. I’m finally with a new NP. She’s wonderful.

Hi @[ba...], yep, you need the other provider. If that second provider is someone you think you can trust, I'd go at the first opportunity. You've got enough stress in your life, my goodness! Whatever you can do to lighten your load, do it!!

I'm really sorry your doctor is messing you around. It sounds like he doesn't understand the tapering process or lacks compassion. Either way it's not good.

Thanks guys. We'll he gave a 3 month supply for two 2 milligram tablets. So if that's the case and he wants to leave me at 4mg for 1.5 month I'm ok eith that you see

Here in Vancouver bc there are many telephone call doctors. Never met this guy believe it or not.so ya it's very strange.

I do have 12 or 13 tablets for an incident like this which I knew would happen. 

He is going to go 5 mg I believe starting tomorrow for two weeks. Then drop to 4mg.

Weird also that he is making my pregablin to 3 days at a time.

I'm seeing the other doctor on the 22nd and I'll talk to him.

I have no idea if that's what his script is even saying. But he did keep me on 6 mg for a month and a half by accident I think. 

Do you know that I get no benefit from even 6 mg clonazepam. That's why I'm taking peegablin aka lyrica or I'd be anxious and have no mood. Pregablin intensifies benzos so that's hoe I managed to save some pills. The pharmacy luckily gives 0.5 pills so it's much easier. 

Getting off benzos scares me.

Lastly I have a prescription from another doctor for 90 zopiclone which works white well. 

That's also for a rainy day which if I get filled now I risk losing this doctor.

I'm just stressed badly. I have to be with someone in the family at all times.

.usually it's my brother wife sister in law or wife. In return my dad will pay all my debts, buy me a car and currently he's paying me 3600 a month.

If I relapse I lose my family. So I can't. Sleep is hard unless I chow down 75 mg mirtazipine well over the maximum.

I want this process to end just like everyone who's tapering. I have been on benzod since I was 18 I think and I'm 47 rn. 29 years. 

It's mind boggling how these doctors can't be sued. I know of articles published blaming doctors. 

I never knew benzos were addicting. I never knew the word addiction fully. I was rarely warned. 

People who were prescribed them in more recent years maybe 7 years back or so probably could never do this unless you just can somehow.

I have ti go down eventually. May as well go and stay at 4 mg for a while. I'm scares to even ask the doctor or he will do something else. I'm just getting by. 

I had two private treatment centre's that tried to taper me or thought they could in 45 days

 They wouldn't give me privileges because I couldnt be tested. So I stopped both tapers at 45 days.

The last agency I was at maybe 4 years ago sent me on my way with no after care and I had near death feelings. I was having such bad panick attacks I would go to my room at 4 or earlier. I would lie their hearing things getting attacks at clock noises my dad yawning or a door shutting just anything. Some family came from England and I knew I had to go downstairs they kept asking. I said hi kind of and sat down trying to fight it and my head just felt like a pin was on the middle and I was in a cloud feeling like death would be better.

I think I found some zoplicone after a month of monster panic attacks and I just finally got through the nightmare

 Of course I went on my phone then. Prior I couldn't care less about my phone. This time around my family is completely helpful.

Thanks guys and I wouldn't wish those withdrawals on anyone. Well maybe the 1st doctor who gave me 30 1 mg tablets lol. 

The first doctor absolutely ruined my life most importantly my parents respect and my piece of my parents fortunes etc. Tough life benzos have ruined my adulthood from 18 to almost age 50.

I'm trying to get some perspective on other people who are tapering of higher dosages of clonazepan after 20+ years. I just found this forum but after a few quick searches your comment was the only one that jumped out with the same situation as mine.

I was at 3mg a day - some years 4-5 -for 28 years. I have been tapering for a year to get to 1mg a day. Did that with a basic plan and no help. Realizing that I will need lots of help.

I hope your provide situation improves.
